Nation thanks military as 100,000 gather in Falmouth for Armed Forces Day 2023

Parades and flypasts were just some of the events that took place across the UK on Saturday as part of Armed Forces Day celebrations to thank the military community for their service.

The national event was held in Falmouth, Cornwall, where the Duke of Gloucester and around 100,000 people gathered to mark the occasion.

More than 1,000 military personnel, veterans and cadets paraded through the town, while there were also spectacular air displays, parachute jumps and more throughout the day.

You can watch the highlights of Armed Forces Day in Falmouth, including a spectacular display from the Red Arrows, in this video.

  1. How do they feel that after a large number British soldiers geve their lives fighting the Nazi's during WWII that they are turning their backs on them and now supporting the Nazi's in Ukraine, the crowds are no better if they had any decency they would turn their back on them for the support they are now giving to the Nazi's. Shame on you all and may God forgive you

  2. Love Navy. Love Coldstream Guards as my Dad was a member during WW2 He joined in thirties and was injured in France, came home by ship on a stretcher. Two Uncles on my Mams side of family were at Dunkirk. Her father, Frederick Warren Swan was in Merchant navy. The ship he was on eas torpedoed and ships company were taken to La Harve in France, marched through Framce, into Germany and remained there for 5 years as POW. He never spoke of the treatment of the POW's by the Germans. He was interviewed in very early 60s by local newspaper and gave a very limited amount of information regarding the terrible conditions the men of the Merchant Navy suffered during their time in the Camps.
Thank you to all those who served throughout our U K. history. We will always remember them. We will never forget, ever

  3. It was absolutely great out in Falmouth today. All of the branches of the armed forces were out in force with so many regiments represented here in numbers I don’t think I’ve ever seen before in person. Glad I was able to be here for the occasion. Absolute perfect day for it. Won’t ever forget it.

  4. Wonderful video Forces TV. However, is it usual practise to demote senior officers by 2 ranks? If I were you I’d send a letter of apology to the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff: General Jenkins for referring to him as a Major General.

  5. 'Satan is Waiting for Us' the military 'talk' when marching. This is due to the selfish attitude, hatred and abuse centric attitude that these military and private school people share.

  6. Forces News is too often hopelessly poor value for the taxpayer and the MoD – it gets so much wrong! For example, the caption for VCDS states Major General Gwyn Jenkins – he is a full General! VCDS is a four-star post but Forces News does not know that. Sad if the Red Arrows was the highlight – it's a non-operational part of the RAF and I wonder if there is a soul in our islands who has not seen them at least once.

  7. Lucky Falmouth. Here in Hemel Hempstead we had a pathetic display of stalls in the local park manned by a few charming young cadets. If it had been organised properly we should have had a military band at least playing & even a recruitment centre.
