In 1973 there were concerns that the crew on Skylab may be stuck without a ride home after half the thrusters on the Service module failed. In response NASA turned to its existing Skylab Rescue plans which involved squeezing 5 people into a capsule designed for 3, and assigned Vance Brand and Don Lind to train for this mission. Over the next few days this crew showed the rescue was possible, but as they analyzed the problem in with the spacecraft they also showed that there were safe ways to return the damaged spacecraft without needing the rescue mission.
This story is of course relevant 50 years later because Soyuz MS22 has a crippled cooling system and the crew will have to wait for a replacement.

In a film, each cosmonaut would have cut their gloves and used the air in their suits to navigate to the Chinese station. Then they would have magically be able to enter the station and use the 'lifeboat' capsule to return to Earth (manually flying it, if course).
All this would be done whilst navigating a huge, lethal storm of space junk and once-in-a-thousand-years solar storm. And, of course, they would fall in love in the process…

Marooned was an excellent film technical wise – but a bit cold character wise. The XRV is a marvelous looking craft – couldn't work out how the Ironone crew would fit in it with Ted flying it as well though…….

Fun fact: Owen Garriott is the father of Richard Garriott, The creator of the Ultima series of video games (and arguably one of the creators of the RPG and MMO genre as we know it). When I was working as a concept artist with Richard, aka "Lord British" in the early 2000s, he was finally able to realize his life-long dream of becoming an astronaut himself.. by doing a ton of training and purchasing a private ride up to the ISS on a Soyuz. Richard is a great storyteller, a charming nerd, and an avid supporter of all things space-related. Check out some of his interviews about growing up in the NASA community as a child.

How do you manage to continue talking about something which doesn't exist? 🤔
Some may consider this pedantic, but noone is being 'rescued'. As noone is yet due to return, noone is as yet delayed, and noone is facing any specific danger, they are ergo not stranded and don't need to be rescued. Rather, there aren't enough pre-configured seats between MS and Dragon, to get all 7 astronauts back in a hurry if the ISS was facing a serious problem making it uninhabitable. But… the Dragon can take 7 occupants and there are only 7 people on the ISS. No doubt that, ideally, all occupants have a fitted seat; but as noted in this video the seat liner for the american is being taken from MS and installed in Dragon. So that is 5 people for sure. As far as I can tell from photos, there may not even be seats for #6 and #7 currently installed, but TBH, if there was an emergency requiring very quick exit of all 7 crew, I am thinking the group would collectively find a way of strapping the other chaps in somewhere with a tie down and an occy strap, rather than stay.
This Roscomos 'plan' to send their boys back in the un-cooled MS, must surely be a face saving bluff. Even Roscomos reckons the temp inside it would reach something towards 40c while simply docked to the ISS, were the connecting hatch not left open. This is just a huge barely educated guess, but to me, that sounds like using it for crew return would be certain death. My conclusion is that in a catastrophe, all 7 would get into Dragon.
But there is no malfunction of any sort on the ISS, no emergency, noone past their exit date. So let's not overhype this, even though everyone is.
I suppose the "snow" will sublimate relatively quickly and turn into gas, but what if a spacecraft sprays out a waxy substance that stays solid in orbit? A single leak could add a hundred million projectiles that would endanger all forms of activities in orbit.

Scott, Ive heard lots of people, mostly Americans, referring to it as "On Orbit". To me that is grammatically incorrect as an Orbit is something we have historically parked "In" or when free falling we are "In freefall" not, "on freefall". Could you perhaps do a video explaining why the sudden change from being "In Orbit" to being "On Orbit" and why we should be calling it that?

Just get SpaceX to go and fetch them, they seem capable of sending a rocket every other day to space.
The space station should have a small radio controlled FPV drone powered by gas thrusters that can be used to look around for these kind of damages….They could make a docking port to charge the batteries and pressurized gas…
Let's hope the Russian Cosmonauts get back safely, maybe on this crazy world right now in the future space can bring us back together a bit again…
