What happens if Elon Musk’s plans don’t work out as promised? Is colonizing Mars a dead concept without Starship? Well, NASA and others have been planning to colonize Mars for some time.
Here’s the fundamentals of their plan!

I'd be interested in seeing a part two…
It's a great $10 Trillion 50 year plan if you believe it. I think everyone has seen NASA has accomplished in the last 50 years. Do you still believe?
Don't we/doesn't the company/the country/the planet only need the actual, true engineers? A committee of them actually doing the calculations can loop in the marketing and accounting people.
No company with over 100 people should EVER be so dependent upon a CEO such that a competent administrator stepping in to manage the money and compliance matters still is insufficient for the remainder just getting on with work. Unleash the actual math doers and real materials scientists, and things could blossom. No? Run a company like a warship — ensure that lopping off the CO doesn't cripple the ability of the crew to fight the shop. Even if the CO"s launch key is lost, a valid backup must still exist.
A competent board would wnsure that no personality can hog or hide critical information. The CEO of an externally funded company should have the power to compel disclosure of the data, facts, tools, records, etc to ensure any disappearance, quitting, emergency surgery of, or sabotage by, a CEO doesn't imperil a large company.
I have been hearing how we are going to be on Mars in 10 years since the late 80s lol
I'd like to see a Part 2 for this, Angry. Great video!!
Sure they can go about it without spacex. He'll just beat them by 20 years. That's all.
NASA sure as hell won't do it in my lifetime and I'm only 15
nASSa can't afford this without reusability.
it need to be a governement that dose inteplanetary colonization it is much haeder for a national government to go busr that it is for eitherone man or one company to go byst, and alsi it is the xcoolective phye of that nation that dose it not only the few actual scientists that go that d it,.
is anyonr doing long tem operinal tests on the macine that will keep either s interplantary ships ships alive.
if theyaRE WHY AREN'T THEY AT LEst as famous as the guys inventing impulse or warp driv systems.
also how to prevent the people who go to mars from lossing any of thier earth held insurances bedacause the insurace companies can't calculate yet what they shoulf pay because they do an really dangerous job
Musk has lost the plot. His greed is ruining him. He will end up like Mr Pillow, it will just take longer since he has more money. Probably end up in prison sooner rather than later.
Do a little math and calculate how much it would cost to lift all that mass to LEO to build this ship using SLS. The total is hilarious! It would bankrupt the entire world several times over.
I was quite excited and almost optimistic about Elon Musk's plans. Then I saw him dancing on stage with Trump and realized that he has had some sort of mental breakdown. Sadly, I now resign myself to never seeing a man walk on Mars. If he is too mentally ill to see through Trump's nonsense, he is going to take us nowhere. Shame.
They said the same thing back in the 1960's about a permanent colony on the moon!?
What will we see first:
Musk's Robot
Musk's Hyperloop
or Musk's starship sending people to Mars ?
I am hoping Musk gets his fat ass to Mars ASAP…and stays there.
LOL. Nasa can’t get to or it without Musk. Not a chance.
NASA like every other government agency sucks.
Nasa is a government money hole. Bureaucratic bloated pork pot, that now is falling behind the private sector.
Don’t count on it if Boeing is involved
