Humanity has thought about colonizing other planets since the dawn of astronomy. We’ve written books, and made movies about it. But now it seems we’re closer than ever to make this idea a reality.

Scientists have considered a lot of candidates for Earth 2.0, and they’ve found some!

What would it be like to live among Venus’ clouds, or reside inside Mercury’s underground lava tubes? What planet is going to be the first one to have human colonies? And how different will our lives become once we leave our home?

Get ready to hear about the plans that SpaceX and NASA have been working on and what’s about to happen in the near future!

  1. All this talk of going to planets is pure BS. One more endless distraction. Also, who would ever really want to, prisoners. Is the plan for humanity … some of you have got to go.

  2. Lovely video but how do we stop accidents from happening? We can't. So an unexpected explosion could destroy some of the floating places or colonies in Mars, putting people in danger. I mean we are not perfect. Accidents will undoubtedly happen. So that's when we bring in AI. And that's when we're really doomed.

  3. I'd choose Venus. At least there'd be direct sunshine on my face, even if I was within a floating shielded object. Life on Mars sounds horrible… A life indoors. It all makes me appreciate this special place we have right here even more.

  4. I was waiting for someone to finally point out that colonising Venus is a far better option for humanity in the long term than colonising the small and distant desert planet Mars, so the sooner we start the better.

  5. if we somehow manage to not self destruct or be annihilated by some cataclysm, we will colonize venus for sure thousands of years into the future. It's hard for mars and other celestial bodies to sustain humans as we know them because of their lower gravity which would have severe effects on health

  6. ridiculous, Venus is passed the Goldilocks zone, you cannot keep water from evaporating, how and why would anyone want to terraform Venus. its a dead planet. Mars however, is just entering the Goldilocks zone and is soon to erupt with massive volcanic activity, that will allow Mars to differentiate in processes of subduction as on Earth.

  7. I hate the learn to live on earth argument. You talk like we have any control of major natural disasters such as super volcanoes/earthquakes, meteors, and cyclical ice age. Just to name a few

  8. “What about Earth?”

Solving problems that would make Mars or Venus livable will help make Earth better too.

Also, maybe we’ll settle around a certain population and humanity would normalize around x billion, but if people keep trying to have a LOT of kids, then we will need different planets to populate (looking at you, mormons and fundamentalist christians)

  9. Humans can't live on Venus. The atmospheric pressure on the surface of Venus is about 92 bar, or 1,350 psi. To put this into context, imagine having 1,350 pounds (over 600 kilograms) resting on one square inch of your body; it would be like having a small car sitting on your thumbnail.

  10. Let's just build a knockoff death star name it the earth star.
Nuclear propulsion and dissonance gravity, built of lavacrete 3d printed in orbit and partially on the moon.

And set sail out of this dying solar system.
