  1. leaf not only makes deckbuilding different but playing as well. right now you never really account for double x speed in one turn. thats just low odds. but now you have to predict more pontential plays and pivots from your opponent.

  2. Mogwai I recommend you read up on the main pokemon tcg. After 30 years of card design there are some key differences that PTCG Pocket is going for but it's definitely not inventing the game from the ground up.

For example, the circle circuit attack has made multiple appearances on the raichu line over the years. The attack to copy opponent's (or other pokemon's) attacks is a mew staple. Aerodactyl blocking evolutions with an abilty from the bench has kidnapped multiple metas (although in this case the ability is reasonably nerfed).

I think it could work both ways to make you appreciate more games but also make more informed guesses and predictions in videos like this. It's reasonable to assume that volcarona will be designed similar to how it has been in the main PTCG in the past. The "Revenge" kind of attack in a single-point basic legendary like this marshadow is a staple, and it'd help you understand the impact on the meta looking at what it's usually done before.
As another example, some confusions as to how the Aerodactyl abilty works or other wording issues would be solved as as I mentioned the design space is operating well within the main PTCG standards.

I suggest you give it a shot, it'd be really fun and interesting I think!

  3. I thought you would have made a mention about exeggcute's ability to be run in any deck. I don't think it's too worth it personally because you need to get lucky with it early game otherwise they 1 shot its squishy 50 hp after the attack, but since its colourless that means you get the 1 grass energy for exeggutor, switch it back out using that colourless energy, and it's enabled once you evolve it. So it works with any energy.
But given your reaction on a comment that makes sense. While meltan and moltres already require the specific energy to use its attack, other cards such as gardevoir magneton and brock function even if you don't run the energy, so it will work.

  4. I'm so hype for Mew ex. Mew is my favorite pokemon for starters, but also I really love playing Alakazam and that deck could use a good starting pokemon that is in it's color. I'm very excited to try it out in a lot of stuff though.

  6. 17:20 I feel like Blue won't be used for that, but instead to adjust some specific matchups: Dragonite, for example, will probably play one of 'em instead of the double Sabrina to prevent being oneshotted by Mewtwo's Psydrive + Giovanni, so he will always fire 2 Meteors instead of 1 for 400 damage. Machamp, in a similar fashion, can use Blue to prevent being oneshotted by the same attack and guarantee a double Mega Punch before going down, and Pika will probably use it when taking a KO while a charged Mashadow is in the back of a Fighting deck (or against Arcanine), while Zard could be able to avoid being one-shotted by Blastoise-EX if the deck were to become popular. Solid card, given how much numbers matter in Pokémon.
17:55 Leaf (which is technically Gen 3 from Fire Red and Leaf Green) is just super good. Basically the old Tauros, Kangaskhan and even Snorlax can act as decent pivots, not to mention base Mewtwo. Also, fat mons like Exeggutor becomes even more threatening.

  7. Recently I learned about the aerodactyl card by playing pokemon tcg for the game boy color. When I saw it was announced in the trailer as an EX, I got really excited because it kept the same ability. Setting up this card early is damn near a checkmate

  8. I enjoy the obvious and necessary meta shift, but unfortunately can smell the power creep from miles away. And that much power creep on the first expansion makes me feel truly concerned about the longevity of the game.

  9. So if Mew has something like 3 water energy on it then uses Genome Hacking to use Charizard's 200 damage Crimson Storm, which discards fire energy, then Mew is uneffected and does not discard any energy??? That seems extremely broken if so.

  11. Hey Mog, nice Video as always! Built many of your fun Decks and i think they bring a bring back excitement in this game in comparison to the Meta Decks:D I try to built a Snobilicat Deck at the moment. The Idea is to cycle fast to your Deck and get Snobilicat to work as fast as possible to break their Combinations. I work with Water and Misty. Do you have any Suggestions or even could make a Deck and try it out? That would be awesome!
