  1. None of this looks 80s to me. Only the trailer elements and maybe cutscenes do- nothing in this game looks or feels 80s like…at all. It just looks like an average indie fps type game….

Maybe if the gameplay had CRT/VHS screen filter options, environments used painted textures instead of flat ones, you had some more 80s VHS sounding music with old cartoon style sound effects or something….So many things you could do but didn't…..

Sorry, I just don't get why everyone is praising it's 80s vibe this doesn't look 80s at all. When I think of a game doing that well I think of 198X, Far Cry Blood Dragon, stories untold, the room half of Duck Season, etc….

  2. I love the whole 80s cartoon feel, but hate the look of the janky ass gameplay, and of course it being an Epic games exclusive.
I think I'll just stick to my BG EEs and pretend that's all you ever made.

  3. So, an epic exclusive for a time. Beamdog presumably got a bag of money for that. Just remember beamdog, when the game won't sell on epic don't start screaming into the void "why no one purchases our product!". You guys did good job on bg1&2 conversions. I hope you all the best and SINCERELY wish you could make a new forgotten realms game in the future. I am just so fed up with this exclusive nonsense.

  4. I hope it doesn't have that final aesthetic… it looks like it was made by Windows Paint. I understand that you want to have that cartoon touch, but there is that quality of paint…

  5. This looks amazing! My only critique is that the frame rate is TOO HIGH 😊 (maybe a 12 FPS mode for authenticity. I’m sure you have already tried this though)

  6. Now see, this is a fascinating thing because there's such a dramatic disconnect stylistically between the background/environment design and the character design work. Before anyone jumps – yes I understand the aesthetic is trying to replicate cell work in front of painted backgrounds. What I'm driving at is they got super close to the genre/historic ref on the characters and it feels like they just sort of stuck them into levels that could visually live anywhere from WOW to LOL. I'd be curious to know where that fork split and why – primarily if there were engine/tech reasons for the choices or if it was just creative leadership getting loosy-goosy with the direction.
