The full story of what happened one night at a hotel near Disneyland Paris.
What happened was in short, a hotel staff member taking advantage of me being a solo traveller.
Police and lawyers are now involved, and the manager has assured me that this will never happen again.
I hope we can all keep travelling as safely as possible, and that this doesn’t happen to anyone again.

So sad to hear this! I can imagine it was so scary to be in that situation especially since the hotel is located quite far away from the living world. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Express – Marne La Valleé earlier this year and I actually am very glad that he and I were together now I've listened to your story

This is so terrifying like I was so worried when I hears this, I’m so glad you got out of that safely
There is no such thing as being too cautious when it comes to your safety whilst travelling. I am currently in an Airbnb in London (travelling to Dlp tomorrow) & 2 nights ago I had knocking on my door at 10.00pm. This is in a secure building! I said ‘who is it’ a couple of times & I think I heard ‘I’m the contractor come to fix …) & I said at this time of the night! I got in touch with the host straightaway& that was the case. I felt my safety was violated & I let her know it 🤬 I never opened the door & it out the wind up me. I looked at moving to a hotel but the prices were astronomical. I had stuff that needed to be fixed & other stuff to be dropped off. I told this host I did not want anyone near this place. I am going to report them, but will do so after I leave & then give them a brutally honest review. I was scared but not at the level Sam was, I can empathise with how she felt. I have been solo travelling for many years & I am big on my safety.
So glad to hear you've gotten out of that awful situation safely. I can't imagine what you and your mom were going through at that moment. I hope you can take your time to recover, and that it doesn't impact your enjoyment of going to Disney.
The woman sounds like a 'hotel rat' which is the name given for scammers or thieves that target guests in hotels in Paris. Over the last few years there has been a surge in them. It definitely sounds like the receptionist was in on it. Judging by your story, it sounds like they are getting more creative in ways to scam.
I'm so sorry you had to experience this, and its terrifying knowing that they were targeting you as a solo traveller. I hope that you will not let this experience deter you too much and that you can get back out there. You did all the right things in the moment and you got away from the situation. Suggest that EVERYONE finds your review on Trip Advisor and likes it – bring it to the forefront and hopefully prompt some action to stop this for happening ever again.

Wow this whole thing is terrifying and crazy, but what’s most suspicious was how it all began with the smell… This makes it seem like there was a motive from the outset. And putting you in a room directly next to it where a smell remains – why not a room far away? While I agree with another commenter that it sounds like a manic episode from the girl, everything with her belongings and with the guy was too constructed and manipulated.
What a horrible experience, so sorry you had to endure that. I’m sure it will take some time to heal and regain confidence. Be kind to yourself in these next few weeks and do things that make you smile ❤

Ohhh Sam, such a nightmare!! So glad you are ok and safe! I'm not a solo traveler, and I don't know what I would have done in such a scary situation… probably i would have called the police… Be careful, always!! And safe travels!!
Oh Sam, honestly don’t know what to say but the fear and emotion during your recounting if this shows how awful it was.
I know you’ve probably been linked to them a hundred times now but you can buy travel locks that make hotel doors a little more secure. They’re inexpensive and they look effective.
I’m so sorry this happened to you but so grateful it wasn’t worse. Something very sinister is going on in that hotel, and it’s utterly terrifying.

I am so so sorry this happened to you. Me and my other half watch your videos all the time and we've always so admired your confidence as a solo traveller (we're not courageous even together!). I hope you got your money back for the room cost and write to the hotel corporate office to make sure that receptionist is fired. It definitely sounded like a crime gone wrong and you did everything right. I’m sorry this happened to you and anyone traveling alone needs a safety plan when traveling. Please report this to the police.
