  1. I hadn’t realized til you mentioned it how dark Tarzan really was for a G rated film. Clayton’s death was one thing, but on top of that, you saw the bodies of Tarzan’s parents not even 5 minutes after introducing them.

Also love how you’re introducing all these Disney classics to Jen. I don’t know if she’s seen The Lion King, but that reaction would be priceless.

  2. Greystoke, the legend of Tarzan Lord of the apes (1984) starring Christopher Lambert, Andie McDowell and Ian Holm was my first introduction to the character of Tarzan, good movie “razor….mirror….”

  3. Lance Hendrickson portrayed ''Kerchak'', Minnie Driver was ''Jane'', Nigel Hawthorne was ''Professor Porter'', Brian Blessed was ''Clayton''. The character of Clayton is ironic because, Tarzan's actual name is John Clayton, Lord Greystoke in the novel.

  4. So glad you are checking this out!! I remember seeing this at a double feature drive in when I was about 5 and as I’ve gotten older appreciate it more especially Phil collins who Smacked the soundtrack out of the park.

  5. Since we're doing a lot of gorilla movies, time to get on Mighty Joe Young! Haha, may as well do Rampage too, George the Gorilla. Oh my, Born to be Wild just came to mind, might be an obscure movie from the 90s now. The movie Congo also have a gorilla too! George of the Jungle! Buddy! Baby's day out! There ya go, Gorilla Marathon galore!

  6. Disney did do a prequel film Tarzan 2 even though it's the 3rd film 🤔🤔 but Disney should do a actual real follow up Sequel to this film "Tarzan & Jane and the City Jungle".

  7. They did do a Tarzan 2 but, from what I remember, it's about his childhood, not a follow up. For a follow up, they did do a Tarzan tv series on the Disney Channel for I don't know how many seasons. I liked it. The 1st Tarzan movie came out in 1918 off the original novel from 1914. As a kid I loved the films of the 30s. It's funny how the bad guy in this is named Clayton while, originally, that was the last name of Tarzan's human parents. His mom died of illness and his dad wasn't killed by a jaguar, he was killed by an ape. There's a film from 81 that was pretty good, Tarzan The Ape Man. Haven't seen it in a LONG time so "pretty good" is my recollection. It does have Bo Derek in her prime so that makes it worth watching. The one I really loved came out when I was 12 in 1984 (again, been a long time so … recollection) and was called Greystoke: The Legend Of Tarzan, Lord Of The Apes. Much more in depth telling than this cartoon of course.
