My WEIRD First Day in Destiny 2 – Bungie REALLY Needs to Fix This

Project MMO Continues and the latest game to join this blind voyage into the unknown is Destiny 2. And our first day in that game showed some real issues with the new player experience… or should we say ‘returning’ player experience.

  1. So we didn't have time to film an intro before Mike left for the race… so I had to dip into the meme chest lel. In our latest foray into Project MMO we decided to play Destiny 2 – a game Mike played very briefly for a sponsored stream before – this happened to cause some issues as it highlighted some serious problems with Destiny's returning player experience. What are your thoughts on how Destiny educates new players and explains things?

  2. If you want to enjoy Destiny 2, just stop caring about the story, turn brain off and shoot some baddies. You can't even play half the old story anyway. Most players just enjoy it as a sort of grinding daily quest simulator anyway. It's like Shadowlands retail WoW, get on that treadmill because FOMO.

  3. I've been playing for a few years, and even knowing how important the story missions are to progress the overall game, I really couldn't be bothered with the LightFall story. I've just been screwing around in the world for most of the time I'm in game.

  4. "BiS" isn't really a thing in D2. There are guns that are very good of course and having them is going to help, but there's no one gun that is "must have" imo.

  5. Yep that’s Destiny for you. Whole expansion is shit and Bungie are just dragging things out to suck more money for their invested playerbase.

  6. It does tell you whether or not an activity scales; if it says 1600 outright then the damage the enemies do and you deal will be scaled. If it specifies something like 1800, 1810 etc. then obviously you need to be at least of that level (in regards to most content). I do feel there needs to be more specificity when it comes to the minutia of scaling (as, especially when you get to Master and Grandmaster difficulty content, there are limits on your power level and eventually your power level stops mattering and they don't say that but), when it comes to endgame content like Raids and Dungeons…it's kind of obvious that maybe you shouldn't solo it? Like it's meant to be among the hardest things you can do in the game so why would you assume you can just jump in immediately and have the build / damage to kill these bosses? Yes it says 1-3 but that's just to say you can jump in solo, not that you should. All content that can be done by yourself says that but some common sense I feel should remedy that? Besides that I agree there are a lot of issues with the "returning" player experience and Lightfalls general quality…those critiques have been done to death.

  7. So as someone who started destiny a year ago I can tell ya bungie ain't ever going to fix the new light issue because "well the community/content creators just do it better" which ok SURE! for someone as dumb as I am that helps a bit more BUT! they could make transitions and the like ALOT! easier..but they don't because again "content creators/community" which I mean they do a great job and the community is pretty good about helping people.

  8. Can I just say, your hair is looking great. Nothing like some relocation! lol It's difficult for me to understand as a woman who had a dad go bald before 30. I don't care one bit about a man losing his hair. It's a natural thing. Comb overs though.. Yeah no. I thought no hair looked very good on you. I am sorry, I made some comments in disbelief when you told the world. Not understanding how much this meant to you.

  9. I played destiny 2 when it first came out, and never did much else, I finally got back to it, and they literally throw you into a mountain of exposition without letting me play the expansion before.

  11. As someone who's new to Destiny 2,played it for a good 90 hours (not much,I know) I feel they don't give a damn about new players. Felt very lost & trying to care about story is impossible (& asking vets I get redirected to x hours long videos explaining lore) & DLC up the wazoo which actually has REMOVED content in it (WTF?!). The overal experience was alright but honestly,I tapped out

  12. Idk every time I go back to Destiny 2, I have a good time, but its so cluttered with DLCs, expansions, and side stories, plus changing the ENTIRE beginning and removing a funny character from the game, it just really doesnt hook me anymore and feels overwhelming even though the game is actually very simple. I feel like I'm better off waiting for D3, if that ever happens

  13. Why can’t I just buy Witchqueen and have every piece of content that was released between launch and the release of Lightfall?

Seriously. They could even make Witchqueen more expensive I don’t care. Just make it more simple. The more times I have to purchase stuff to play the game the more likely I am to decide it’s not worth it.

The same should apply to all previous and future expansions.

  14. destiny's biggest issue is this stupid fucking living world bullshit, I cannot and have not ever been able to recommend it to anyone because of how fucked it is to join if you haven't been around and kept up since the VERY beginning, it's insanity, living world sounds cool on paper but in practice it is nothing but an enormous detriment.

  15. I honestly really miss Destiny 1. It's really too bad you won't get to experience that; because I really think D1 had something really special going for it, especially in the last expansion.

  16. My thoughts exactly. FUCK BUNGIE. I stopped playing before Forsaken and I can't play it anymore.
All those "excuses" about game size are ridiculous. Even Call Of Duty, yes this mindless session MMO shooter, implemented partial downloads where you can install and delete the campaign and multiplayer separately!
So Bungie, stop pretending you're doing an MMORPG. I suggest you delete all story and non-PvP areas entirely, this game has become a bot cesspool long ago anyway
