  1. this developer has been amazing at updating their apps over time. when original procreate came out i never dreamed (lol) i would mostly be using it to import and paint 3d models, so who knows what they’ll add to Dreams.

  2. I've been having a bit of fun with the app so far.

Even with the problems and gripes (the obvious being the gestures and a few configs), the learning curve kills me a bit but I love and welcome challange and it does help when you have about 5 things in mind to animate so it's easier to tackle it.

  3. ill download it after a year, comparing it to my current animation app which is toonsquid its not better, only thing i love is the drag and drop from the OG app to dreams, so far its just my inconvenience file transfer from procreate to toonsquid but its not that hard

  4. When they said their layer and file size improvements are also coming to Procreate, I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get Procreate updated along with/Dreams. Particularly because Procreate tends to always have a major update every year around October/November

  5. Rotoscoping performance mode Is genius! I posted a video of my experience with dreams as well and Performance mode definitely is the most exciting feature in my opinion. Lovely video Josh 🙂

  6. Its sad that Procreate Dreams doesn't support third party stylus while other apps like toonsquid works so great and even Procreate also. My hopes shattered when I first used it. After raising this problem to the support team…they just said they are aware of this issue but cannot guarantee when it will get resolve. I think I will just have to wait 😕

  7. See Brown Words and Pictures, for instance, a video from november 29 that emphasizes building image in procreate first. He’s a beginner in this app and very methodical.
l like also Ben Designs is another one, explaining alignment. There others as well i’ve added to my playlists giving very helpful tips.

Edited this comment. Good news a 5th update. Improvement comes because people speak up. V 1.0.5 today 12/01

  8. Oh, and they wrote me on my complaining email that there will be no liquify tool in Dreams because of the 1 million pixel size. Who the hell needs 1 million pixel size canvas btw??

  9. I’m typing this in real time for the black marks the red underneath if you were doing onion skin could effect. I don’t know if you were using onion skin but anyway. I’ve been watching you for a while I’m an animator.

  10. Lasso Tool, QuickShaped, Selection and Transformation tool should have came with this, bushes, layers etc all could be upcoming updates, but those four is well needed in my opinion. I gotten use to QuickShaped because it definitely came in handy when I started to storyboard my ideals. I can’t speak for the team who created Procreate, but how hard can it be to transfer these features from Procreate to Dreams ? Instead of updating things they have already created in Procreate, the updates could have been NEW features for Dreams rather then using updates to give us features they already came up with in Procreate.

  11. It seems like this is a open beta state watching this. Though functional seems like a lot of improvements need to be made over time. I say give this app a year or so for Procreate to get some feed back and then prioritize what needs done to make it more fluid. I think the main complaint I have heard on this app is the learning curve can be a pain if you don't have any experience with other animation apps or someone to follow along on what they are doing. For me I am going to wait a bit and see where this app goes after it's been out in the wild for a few months.

  12. The only thing that irks me a bit about the whole Procreate thing is, that thanks to their faux Apple campaign and obviously because they're already well known, they pushed this whole narrative of "Oh, FINALLY you will be able to make animated things all by yourself" when that was always perfectly possible, even on an iPad. Dreams, maybe unjustly so, overshadows a lot of much more mature animation solutions on the platform like Callipeg or ToonSquid. Which are btw made by teams of one or two people and all available as perpetual licenses. Both of them very viable options (and they come with a lasso select too :P). If they were like "Hey look, it's this new thing, it's early access, we're still working on it…" my disappointment wouldn't have been as big as it was when i first played around with it. But being all "This is the new animation revolution" and then releasing it without any sort of select tools or even being able to reshuffling layers is kinda humorous.

It motivated me to learn Callipeg in an afternoon and loving it so far PLUS it runs really smoothly on my 2017 iPad Pro, something i can't say of Dreams. So yeah, despite the flashy advertising, i hope people also look at the alternatives which are just as, if not more, valid products for creating animated things on the iPad.

I said it before and i'll say it again: if Dreams wasn't made by Procreate it would've been laughed out of the room on release.

  13. The consistent design was something Apple did very well. Now even they can't keep up with it somehow. I thought Procreate would be one of such companies. Cutting corners to make the most money and spending the least amount of effort has become the norm now. These days design philosophy and consistency should be the top two aspects of designing anything. But nope!

  14. I love Procreate and I finally bought Procreate Dreams. I do wish they were more specific with the limitations with older iPad Pro models. I knew my 2. generation Pro would struggle, but some of the shown things are impossible on my model.

  15. God I just wish the UI didn't take half the goddamn screen, and when in flipnote I wish I could make it even smaller. Like why not give me those quality of life features if you're going to take up more space then clip studio paint on Ipad?!
