While trying to show how to protect your high end GPU from blowing up while playing New World, I discovered an even BIGGER issue!

This video was like coming over to a mates house and he's showing you something he's discovered !
Time to play FF14
Can someone tell me if this is an issue with just nvidia cards or even with radeon cards as well?
what's the software that's being used to show the wattage etc.?
From "can it run Crysis…!" to "can it survive New World…!"
Is the in game option for DSR over riding the nvidia control panel setting? because it does on my AMD card
The tech specs for the Corsair Xeneon lists the max resolution as 3840×2160.
18:45 in electrical terms of a PID controller we would call that "hunting"
I dont understand why you wouldnt just limit the FPS…
I‘m running a 3090 (ASUS TUF) on 2560•1440p with locked 100FPS.
I usually lock my games that arent comp. to 120FPS but I experienced to many drops, so changed it to 100FPS.
Also my card is slightly undervolted.
So far I just noticed the card‘s been running unusally warm for the load it has.
Many times it‘s at 70-80% but on 75° C.
That‘s odd compared to Warzone running at 165FPS 85-99% usage, but sitting at 65° C
im playing on a 2 core cpu and a gtx 750 ti lol struggle time
What gets me is that these cards exceed 300 at stock at all. I've got a Vega 64 and I thought it was crazy that you could pump 300 or more into it at all. Now it's just what Nvidia does. Why do they want to recreate Fermi so bad?
Over 400W O_O'
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 also does this in the menus. It wants 100% GPU and draws 400 W from my 3090 which is running in "silent BIOS" btw. Insane.
Thank you Jay
Maybe try it with EVGA Precision just to be sure. I’m sure the same thing will happen but you never know?
But does it run New World? We're allowed to make cryengine jokes with lumberyard right?
What's the software he is using to monitor the gpu?
Really appreciate you taking the time to test this stuff and provide advice!
I would speculate that EVGA card has something wrong with some feedback circuit limiting power.
I'm shooting fkning pissed, so I buy an 1800 hundred dollar piece of shit now paper weight. Burns up on the second game I play and they can't help me . WTF ..NEVER AGAIN THIS IS BS. This entire gaming world now is nothing more than a cheap bs gimmick. They are fking us all and we are all just taking it. How stupid are we.
There are a lot of people in denial in the New World community.
EVGA themselves have public documentation showing that their higher end cards, XC3 ultra, FTW3, etc., are actually running 110%+ power limits even when the slider is set to 100%. This isn't surprising at all. The important thing with these cards is to hook up an oscilloscope to find the power spikes; if you look at some of the Techpowerup power graphs for the 20 ms spikes, the 3080Ti FTW3 had spikes in the 530w range, which is probably going to be similar to those types of power spikes you'd see on something like a 3090 FTW3. If New World is causing these spikes in a very frequent manner, well, you could start getting rca's to this issue.
My god that FTW3 is the ugliest card I’ve ever seen.
Does this mean we're going to switch from "Will it run Crysis?" to "Will it survive New World?"
4:50 47 Doo-dad. Technical term.
have we considered the control program does not work with the card correctly?
Best recommendation, don't play New World.
Gigabyte 3090's have been dieing before new world. They made a version 2 to "fix" the molex pins causing their issue..
for me 4k not showing up on my 2k Monitor
Karma for the dumb people who play the game no sympathy from me.
Jay should definitely have a word with EVGA about this regardless of the game being trash code.
Can you do this test with an amd card? like a 5700xt and 6800xt? curious if i have to worry about my card or not. really want to get new world but seeing all these issues makes me wary.
I got the borderless border bug to on my gtx 960. It randomly fixed by itself…
I mean the game is hella buggy in the first place anyway. I get it just released and I have been waiting for it for almost a year now, but it felt so unpolished.
The gathering sometimes doesnt work. The auto run stop working. The combat is rough. Everytime I used any crafting station, the screen wet crazy.
Even content wise its fuckin boring. The quest is repetitive af, the same old "kill this x times" or "go talk to this dude 100km away from you".
Really hope they improve this cause in its current state, it just hella grindy and super boring.
Fk amazon and definitely fk gigasht
If you brick your card after all these warnings you deserve no remorse you're at fault not anybody else. I don't understand how this is an argument for anybody. if you even have a chance at bricking your card why are you rolling the dice
I think the game is trying keep fps above 60, so it draws more power not to get below 60fps…
I locked my fps to 60 😅😅
whats your settings in Afterburner for power distribution? With EVGA card it should be on third party to work properly
i smell a class action.
I hate this gossip style video, with a very scientific approach and a sample size of one.
I can't go to 4 k in my game. Only 1440
I just tested it with my EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 in Heaven benchmark and when I set the power limit to 107% it stays at max 107% in Heaven. But I set the power limit in Precision X, not MSI Afterburner. Not once it went over that (or only very quickly and I did not notice it). But still I will not test it with New World (which I do not even own so far ^^).
"new world should be playing the game of benchmark", so basically, the new "but can it run crysis".
Jay test CPU next
My MSI 3090 Suprim X peaks at 440W in NW with a GPU Hotspot temp of 102°C… Not even Cyerpunk2077 with everything set to absolute max does that.
