In my top 25 of all time! Love this one. I love how no matter what we learn about Godfrey being loaded, Irene so sees the poor as her pet projects that she loves him in spite of everything being based on a lie. He's still the man she "saved." The attacks on the delusional entitlements the rich have in this movie are just scathing. It's a documentary dressed in screwball clothing. The little role reversal of Irene and Cornelia is brilliant too: One starts off as reasonable and the other shallow and selfish, and they switch! Cornelia isn't relegated to being the mean girl catty sister, she gets to grow. You get the sense she learns from this experience. I always imagine a sequel to Godfrey with her and Godfrey being better friends than him and Irene are marriage partners. But I've spoken to people who feel it's a straightforward love story, it's that up to interpretation. The film is classy and dignified, yet unpretentious and modern. It's a pure delight from beginning to end.

The Italian dubbing sounds metallic and unnatural to me, I believe this is due to a change in the framerate. If the audio was recorded at 25 FPS and slowed down to 24 FPS, the pitch drops and the voice sounds slower. To fix this, the pitch should be raised slightly, about a semitone, to restore the original sound.
