βThe first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinskiβs show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers β loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
βDo you like Kyle Kulinski?β
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on YouTube. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
βHe understands what weβre up against,β Ahmed said. βLike Bernie.β
But I was surprised to hear Kulinskiβs name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinskiβs show struck me as mostly capital-P βprogressiveβ takes on the news β the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
Itβs an impression that wasnβt entirely incorrect.
βI have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,β Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. βI donβt want to hear about Lenin. I donβt want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.β
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on YouTube, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do β even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinskiβs.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinskiβs fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, heβs closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks β who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago β the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on βthe Millennial Leftβ pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinskiβs name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of βthe Squadβ to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? βThere is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,β according to one moderator. In new media, heβs king β the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, heβs nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing βcoolβ about Kulinskiβs show. (As a friend put it, ββWelcome to Secular Talkβ sounds like something youβd hear on Egyptian radio.β) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics wonβt get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as βDirtbag Left.β Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. βNot only have I not attended one,β he says, βI have no idea what that means.β
And yet heβs astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Roganβs wildly popular show, introduced them. βYou make the most sense to me,β Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. βYouβre a normal person.β
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinskiβs show has a massive audience that just doesnβt compute with our mediaβs understanding of βwhat the kids wantβ or even βwhat the left-wing kids want.β
Itβs probably for the best β the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. βCorporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all β class issues,β he said on a recent episode.

The great state of Alabama???? Since when? They're near last in crime, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
No one aspires to live in Alabama. π
Honestly at thi point her best course of action would be to say she was high on some prescription meds she accidentally took too much of.
Britt is heartbroken that her multiple lies and sickening inauthenticity have been exposed.
Legal forms of discrimination based solely upon which god they pray to: this woman doesnβt work for the betterment of the nation but for their god irregardless of whether you believe something else or not.
Katie and Wesley named their son Ridgeway. Thatβs child abuse, IMO.
She started crying before the camera was turned on.
I heard a similar response to the criticism of Britt's SOTU response, at NewsNation from a conservative woman with Leland Vittert. She said the left was only attacking her because they're afraid of a strong, intelligent, conservative woman. Some such BS.
That voice during sex
Youβre wrong, Kyle. Trump gave her a glowing review. Probably a future hush money recipient?
I don't think you could speak more weird if you tried.
Kyle stop vaping
I think everyone has forgotten about Joni Ernst in 2015. Go back and review it. Itβs just as bad, and scary as this one.
Our entire system is a psyop.
OMG how can we forget π
Republicans have a great scam going in Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, Florida. Unironically these were all at one point confederate states.
π₯ΊIn the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
It reminded me of trump jrs wife yelling "and the best… Is yet… To cooooooome!" With ther arms up in the air at the DNC or CPAC or whatever it was. π Same energy.
When people say they are concerned about childrenβs or grandchildrenβs future, I know they lie. Caring & love is for here, & now, not to impress others.
I didn't watch her response yet. Her smile is giving Homelander vibes.
"THEY can't handle the trutth about their failed leader" what a joke.
Mmmmmmm That's good shaudenfraude! ππ€£ππ€£ππ€£ππ€£π
Why are you speaking God's name with all the lies that came from you I didn't one time hear God please forgive me for .
If she were really concerned about the next generation would she have named her son Ridgeway?
What a psycho π€£π€£π€£π€£
I really don't think I've yet seen someone who deserves to be dragged more than her. That made my skin crawl, so utterly disingenuous and shameless.
Katie Britt asked in her SOTU rebuttal if we were better off NOW than 4 years ago.
Uh, what '4 years ago' was that Katie? The one where they were STACKING THE CORPSES UP LIKE CORDWOOD in MOBILE REFRIGERATION UNITS outside of overflowing HOSPITALS and MORGUES while YOUR 'LEADER' was ENJOYING GOLFING and MALIGNING Asian people and FRETTING about his 'RATINGS'?
Is THAT the '4 YEARS AGO' that you're talking about?
Cuz THAT'S the only FOUR YEARS AGO that I remember, Katie. I mean, YOUR MILEAGE MAY VERY over there in ALTERNATIVE-FACTLAND.
Yup a sh*tty job, RFK Jr. was very good as was Col. McGragers from our country our choice
Katie's puppet strings are broken. To dam bad girl.ππ
A 6 year old child can easily tell how phony she is. I suspect she will also be a prime candidate for all sorts of exploitations by savy politicians in her party.
She named her son… "Ridgeway" ??
Lol I'm dead over your impression lol
Her speech reminds me of Serena from The Handmaid's Tale. It is her Gilead moment!
I guess god's left her off his blessing list.
I hate this person so much dude. Who the fuck could anyone take someone so obviously disingenuous seriously?
Idk why she felt the need to stress every syllable and every word like her life depended on it.
Inflation????!!!! INFLATION IS 3.2%!!!!!!!
Was this live or did someone record this and think "Yep, that will show the libs"?
Kye reading her quote was more authentic than her speech
If there was ever a case for the Patriarchy… J/K
I lost little sympathy I had for the bi*** after she blamed liberal news outlets for her screwup.
Literally everybody left or right was dumbfounded by her poor ''performance''
It was a very difficult job for SNL to mock this since it was already at the top
Republicans only know how to give hate speech. Nothing but hate to divide America.
Is she kidding??! Did she see the absolutely vile, disgusting display by her dear leader Trump as he mocked people with a stutter? Did she see that?? Republicans can NEVER complain about being mocked while they condone that revolting debacle
Katie's giving me Narcissist LA Pastor vibes at the Megachurch
Ridgeway? The kid sounds like heβs named after a housing development. π
