My First Lacuna Coil Listen! Vocal ANALYSIS of "Swamped" LIVE!

Our November Patron choice finally has me sitting down to hear the dynamite vocals of Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro of Lacuna Coil. I was not ready for this. There’s something so natural and serene about Cristina’s vocals that makes this live version of “Swamped” so extremely successful, and I have to say that I’m now a fan.

Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Lacuna Coil for the first time, performing “Swamped” Live.

  1. Elizabeth should give Lizzy Borden Tomorrow never comes or Crawl under your skin a listen. Few and far between when somebody from one of these bands goes and comments on any type of review, analysis, and what not. Just goes to show how much any of Elizabeth's critics and review information has become valued and respected. Kudos to you Elizabeth and the acknowledgement you have attained.

  2. I am sure the singing was edited after. Because I was on 4 Lacuna Coil concerts and especially Andrea's vioce always was out of tune. And it was very much out of tune. That's why he's not singing any longer since the album "Black Anima".
Even Cristina had some issues. But that's what I love about hearing it live. You'll getz the (almost) raw performance.
I'm also impressed that Cristina is still able to sing so clear and high vocals with her age. Awesome!

  3. why dont you ever say something like ,,Shes not that good, there and there were mistakes,, ? if you want to ANALYSIS something, this should be automatically included… otherwise, this is just ruined song…. sorry 🤷‍♂

  4. My first taste of female fronted metal was "in a Reverie" by LC and they are still my favorite. Considering how much I love old Nightwish and Within Temptation, that says a lot. I don't think the male voice is altered, he has sounded exactly like that on the 6 or so albums that I own and when live.

  5. I was just listening to 'Daylight Dancer' when I saw this. Lacuna Coil is an awesome band and a rare band that has two singers who are so good! Comalies is one of my favorite albums of all-time, just one great song after another. Like you, I became obsessed with their sound and also got their earlier stuff which is great too. Check out their early stuff too like 'To Myself I Turned' and 'Falling' which is just amazing. I prefer 'Falling' over the reworked 'Falling Again', both are great but I just love the original as it sounds more raw, vulnerable, emotional, a song sounding one part hopeful and one part agonizing. The guitar ringing its notes like a clock/metronome that fuels a foreboding sense of urgency, of time slipping away which gives a sense of urgency and anxiety to the content of the lyrics. But as great as it is, I think my fave song of theirs is 'Daylight Dancer' because it's like gothic ethereal candy to my ears and just fills my head with visions and melodies. I wish they had made an official video for it, it's really great! Do a video on it if you haven't already! ❤

  6. I am soooo happy to see Lacuna Coil featured here! This is one of my favorite songs, and watching your face explode as you hear it for the first time brings me such joy. This band is really one of the world's best kept magical secrets. Please listen to "Stars" some time. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it, even after listening to it for the past 20 years. It might not be her most aggressive performance, but the entire soundscape is a magic carpet ride into what feels like ending credits to the movie of one's life.

"Wide Awake" is another all-time favorite. "Hostage To The Light" would be a another good review. They go nuts on that track!

  7. Yeah, While Senzafine was the first song I listened to from Lacuna Coil, Swamped was the second. Mindblowing is the only word that came to mind. Cristina and Andrea have a really good sound.
