Yeah but they buffed all the axe apes and 1 second root while slowing heavy attack speed means basically the root is pointless. Also, people are shield bashing out of it faster than you can get a heavy attack off. Game is absolute trash now. :

a passive that improves crit chance and a skill that cant crit…

With VG, orb with all perks, essence rupture all perks, scream all perks, crit and cd secondaries, bottom perk on right tree. Land scream, essence, orb of decay and it's pop, land a heavy range attack to reset cds and do it again. No need for void blade for big damage

Biggest nurf to IG/fire staff are the buffs to GA/warhammer.

For some reason, if you put a cut flawed gem to scale rapier with intel, it does WAY more damage than a brilliant or cut pristine gem! Just a heads up
Been using med armor fire/rapier and its real solid. Moving to fire/vg for something different and not sure how I feel about it.
I give this game two more months until it is abandoned by players and devs.

They should increase the shower root to 1.5s or 2s and to keep the entoment dmg the same it is rn, but increase how many hits it takes to break it.
I don't know dude. I play full range void with leech perks and heal around 800 on every heavy XD
Just ignore all the focus scaling spells.
One good thing with void gauntlet is that you can use it with almost any combination (if you're playing War/in a team comp) just to provide huge utility, for example in Wars i've been using STR/CON Greataxe/Void, you don't have INT for void but the empower, the root, and their perks that give anti-heal + buff removal provide for great set-up for engages, so at least there's a few use cases for Void even outside of pure mage!
I really hope Fire/Ice ends up being better/less hurt than it felt through PTR testing at first
I was struggling against decent mages from my server in duels with my bow/spear. Until I started playing from long range instead of close/mid range. Shots are easier to hit when the mage is running after you trying to get in range instead of strafing.

I have a very similiar build with fire staff/void gauntlet with the 50 focus, 300 int and rest con with medium armour. I was trying full void gauntlet but didnt work out as I feel when a melee runs into you it can be great but if they are juking around not so much. So I effectively use firestaff most of the time which is a fairly superior ranged weapon and can switch to void gauntlet for some scraps. After testing I use oblivion so when they run into me it's very effective in a defensive capacity, also that healing spell can be hard/unreliable to land. Switched between the 2 in a duel situation can use a lot of mana but be very powerful, void gauntlet then they backoff, boom fireball 😀
In OPR Ice gaunlet is busted, you just talk about 1 v X all the time
Ice spike Crits for 6k you can time the explosion.
Imagine how many nerfs the ice gauntlet would have got if everything actually worked from launch…
Empowered fireball is dog shit, you need to hit them with impact – if you hit the grounds or walls or whatever u won’t get the bonus damage, plus fireball hitbox is super small sometimes goes through people
As a mainly hammer/hatchet/axe player at first i thought ice gauntlet was insanely op but the more i fought against it i realized it's just the damage scaling that needed to be looked at, having played it myself along with all the other weapons now the weapon feels gutted and that is very disappointing because the weapons are basically everything in new world a core component and they should all feel great to play with.
I’ve hung the ice gauntlet up for now I just can’t deal 😂 switched out for the rapier on update day and it feels great with medium armour and 10k health nice and tanky.

Void Gaunt/Musket has been the most dangerous ive ran into. They CC you with void, swap to musket and trap you then proceed to dump dmg on you while you cant move. its a more painful ice gaunt basically
