  1. I mean if they kept the artstyle the exact same from MK8, everyone would’ve then likely complained that the game looks too similar to MK8 and not enough like a brand new game.

  2. Gotta say, I really love the new art style Mario Kart 9 is going for

As much as I adore Mario Kart 8’s art direction, I also appreciate the simpler, more cartoony vibe the older games had with its tracks. Which is why I was so glad when the booster course pass was announced, and it’s awesome to see that art style return for a new game

From what I’ve seen, the characters look great as well. To me, they range from looking on par to even better than their Mario Kart 8 counterparts, though I’m not a fan of DK’s design. Really hope they revert back to his old one in future games, or at the very least improve from it.

Super excited to finally have a new mario kart after so long, and even if DK’s old design may be gone, I can sleep well knowing the Luigi Death Stare is still back baby

  3. I feel like with Peach not using her biker outfit on the bike and the movie DK design, it’s kinda like Nintendo is alluding to alternate costumes in this game. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out switching between outfits for peach/daisy/mario/luigi etc and entire character designs like with DK becomes a confirmed thing

  4. I’m so pretty good concerns I was a bit worried about the 24 players myself but like here’s the thing this video we only had 12 seconds of gameplay and I’ve only seen one track and we don’t even know if that’s a Wanderflower it seems to be out the way and not essential thing to grab my point is we’ve barely seeing the game i’m just going to wait and see and not judge of a 12 second clip.

  5. I've been waiting so long for a new Mario Kart that I'm so excited not only for a new Mario Kart, but especially for one that could look and play nothing like 8 after all this time.

What I love about Mario Kart is that each game feels different even if people tend to say that, for example, Mario Kart 7 is just a lesser Mario Kart 8 (which it isn't, it doesn't play the same at all and I might even prefer how it feels compared to 8).

So yeah, hyped for the next Mario Kart!!

  6. Edit: I want to addendum my comment- if people don’t like the DK redesign in the new Mario Kart, I totally respect that. Art is subjective, after all. So I want to stress I am not here to say if you don’t like the design, you’re wrong. I’m just here to say “I don’t think it looks like Movie DK.” And also, having worries is valid, but it’s too early for me personally to really bother with worrying about something we know so little about.

I’ll once again fight back against the narrative this is Movie DK when it just looks like how DK might appear in Wonder/a recreation of the 2D art in modern Mario games. Now, how good it looks will vary for people, but it’s growing on me. He looks very funny and whimsical.

As for the game itself, given just how little we’ve seen/know, I’m not concerned about anything because getting concerned at this early a stage feels like making a mountain out of an ant hill. I need to wait and actually learn details on the game before I can get hyped or concerned.

  7. Interesting. Regarding the art style I hope Nintendo won't push too far. For a while their style was a bit too plastic and realistic generally in the Wii U and Switch area(for example the realistic humans in donk city). But I hope they won't make it too unserious (cartoonish is good but don't be just cute it isn't as appealing to children as you might think). It's to early to speak if it's just this game thing or a permanent new staple (I hope not). The most concerning one is DK, for 30 years he was on the cooler/"realistic" edge of the Mario cast long before Nintendo got into general more realistic looks, his design shouldn't suffer the pushback on this. He isn't just a side character he is a champion of his own series he has the right to maintain his unique edge and that staff in general should still have a place and not removed completely in favour of only cute cartoony design. Also that new/old design whatever looks like a lobotomised version of DK sorry. I think older areas had a better balance and while things shouldn't always be the same there is what to learn. Maybe they will have more diversity in the animation in each game which will be fine. If the becomes the staple it will become a problem that will just suffer the same pushback they had previously on the realistic side of things or worse (like really the DK move is an extreme one, give them credit for the boldness but its probably a bad move)

  8. Honestly, kinda just neutral on the new Mario Kart. On one hand, I'm excited to see what they do with it (especially after having played 8 Deluxe since like 2 years before the DLC), but on the other hand nothing was shown outside of those 10 or so seconds seconds so I'm not as interested. Guess its like, a case of "when we see more I'll hopefully have more to say". 😅

  9. im glad people are starting to use Brothership music in their videos

related to the video, i agree with most of the points, especially the 24 player take. Im calling it now tho, it isnt mario kart 9, nor 10, its going to be Super Mario Kart (switch) 2

  10. I am REALLY looking forward to the new Mario Kart but I feel like the character voices are going to be completely unrecognizable. Pretty much all of the voice actors have changed, also REALLY not a fan of the new Donkey Kong look, hope it’s just a different skin

  11. I’m glad we have more racers. This isn’t anything crazy, most racing games have 12 plus racers. Mario Kart chaos is why we play. I’m glad we aren’t be complacent and trying new stuff. Also this artstyle ain’t ai, I don’t even see how anyone can see that

  12. My biggest concern is the character roster size. I get that it should be big enough that racing with 24 people every time wont be repetitive, but you also dont need a bigger roster size than what 8 Deluxe has. Cut out crossover characters and clones, and you can add 8 characters (9 if you remove the Mii option) without inflating the roster size at all, and it'd still be a pretty agreeable character list

  13. I watched the video now, and honestly… And I don't mean any bad faith… But it sounds like you want or prefer Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 2 instead of a new Mario Kart. Respectable opinions, but many of us are tired of the same Mario Kart after a decade. I'm excited to see all the new stuff and how it will pan out!
