Another Idea: Super Mario Party Superstars but everything is reversed. Stars cost 0, but you have to have exactly 0, no higher, and also red spaces +10 coins and blue spaces -5 coins. Also every time you win a minigame, you get last place, and every time you lose, you get 1st, and when you win, it +10 coins, and every time you lose, you get -10 coins. So you always wanna lose coins. The items dont change, but now the best item costs 5 coins, and the worst item costs 20, (also you dont need exactly 5 or 20 coins for the items I just imagine it would be hard with everybody having really good items) and everything in the middle slowly goes up in price on how bad it is and the price slowly goes down on how good it is.
In Mario Kart Double Dash there are even two tracks which have other traffic on them: Mushroom Bridge and Mushroom City. Mushroom City is even a maze in a certain section of the track but the arrows always show you where you have to go.

When selecting your kart, if you press +/- you will see your kart’ stats

A tip if you didn’t already know! You can hold ZL or L with an item like a banana or shell and it would sit behind your cart, so if a red shell comes at you, the item can take the impact

I wanna tell you guys a funny story lol so yesterday I was trying to unlock the gold wheels for this game by beating every single time trials ghost and holy moly I got so insanely angry trying to beat the ghosts from hyrule circuit Big Blue and Mute city to the point where I grabbed my tissue box and threw it so hard on the ground that all the tissues flew out of the box 😂😂😂😂😂😂 but finally 5 years later I finally got the gold wheels I’m so happy 🙂

I'm triggered by you not using your items. Bannana's are good for creating obstacles, especially, and there's no point in holding onto something like the banna or coin when you're about to hit the item pickup as you could then get a star or shells.
