I’ll share my favorite Icelandic streamer—an essential fly for anyone fishing these remarkable waters. Watch as I demonstrate how to tie it and put it to the test in two unique locations on Lake Þingvallavatn.
Our journey starts at a stream outlet, a hotspot for trout early in the season. From there, we head to Kárastaðir, a deep and awe-inspiring location where we fish between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. At Þingvellir National Park, these plates meet and drift about 2 cm farther apart each year, creating visible cracks and fissures in the landscape.
This trip is just by the start of the 2024 Iceland fishing season for me, and it’s all about exploring the magic of Þingvallavatn with fly rods and streamers in hand.
The fly Peanut envy is originally tied by Kelly Galloup
The spots we fished were Fish Partner beats at Lake Þingvallavatn:

Hi Robert, nice fish and nice tie also. What kind of soft tubing is the one you use for the connection of the rear hook?

Robert, can you give me the name of the chestpack you use? 🙏🏻
How long was your leader and type of sinking line?🙏🤔
Awesome fish and great fly! Do you think this fly would work for seatrout and pike too?
Nice video…
Nice location 👌🏾👌🏾
Bucket 🪣 list!
Beautiful fish! Especially the color on chin almost chromatic blue silver.
I also make a knot on the rib instead of double laying. It never slips.
