According to a verbal statement given by a Tempe Police Lieutenant on scene, A Ford Mustang with 3 occupants traveling southbound on Rural Road lost control causing the vehicle to veer to the east side of the roadway where it struck a wall. The unidentified driver and a second unidentified passenger were pulled from the vehicle after an extensive extrication operation by firefighters. The passenger was pronounced deceased on scene and the driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. A hard closure has been established for Rural Road between Broadway Road and Broadmor Drive. The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours throughout the morning and into the day. 1. This is one of the reasons why passenger Cars/Trucks should not be able to go more than 80 or 90mph, unless one is a First Responder or when on an actual racetrack.
Speeds of anything higher than that are impractical for most and invites some drivers to excessively speed, putting everyone on the road in danger, including themselves.

  2. So I’m to believe the woman was ejected from the car, hit a tree severing both legs, then flew over a one story building, and survived? More likely the ambulance driver wanted to get paid delivering a patient to the hospital.
