Musk’s SpaceX & NASA Revealed New Plan to Colonize Mars by Starship…Sooner than you think!
If the pinnacle technological triumph of the 20th century was landing humanity on the Moon, then in the 21st century, the greatest technological feat would be successfully landing humans on Mars.
This is why NASA and SpaceX have joined forces to conquer Mars with Starship as early as the beginning of the next decade.
Let’s find out about this new plan in today’s episode of Alpha Tech:
NASA plans to send humans on a round-trip scientific mission to Mars, potentially as early as 2035. The journey will take approximately six to seven months each way, covering a distance of up to 250 million miles per leg. Honestly, reaching Mars alone is already a monumental challenge, let alone establishing a settlement there.
Musk’s SpaceX & NASA Revealed New Plan to Colonize Mars by Starship…Sooner than you think!
For this reason, NASA cannot achieve this feat on its own. Collaboration with other space companies in the industry will undoubtedly be essential for such a mission.
Among these, SpaceX stands out as the most suitable partner. This private company is currently leading the way in both rocket and satellite technology—critical components for a manned mission to Mars. Moreover, SpaceX’s overarching goal, spearheaded by Elon Musk, is to transform humanity into a multi-planetary species, with the colonization of Mars as a key objective.
As NASA’s space exploration programs face budget uncertainties and increasing competition from abroad, the likelihood of the United States entering a race with China and other nations to establish a human presence on Mars is growing. With Starship being the only spacecraft currently under serious development designed specifically for crewed missions to Mars, its rapid progress represents a significant advantage for NASA and its international partners.
Musk’s SpaceX & NASA Revealed New Plan to Colonize Mars by Starship…Sooner than you think!
Starship will be the cornerstone of the entire Mars mission. Beyond serving as a transport vehicle, it will function as temporary housing and provide support for resource extraction, facilitating the expansion of human presence on the Red Planet.
The plan for Mars colonization follows a carefully structured, phased approach designed to maximize efficiency and safety while leveraging SpaceX’s Starship as the backbone of the operation. Each phase builds upon the progress of the previous one, ensuring the gradual and sustainable development of settlements on Mars.

Everything is fine but humans in negligible gravity for 6-7 months is the major problem. Our bones and muscles are not made for space
SpaceX doesn’t need NASA. NASA needs SpaceX. NASA because of its government waste mentality and lack of vision is not really a suitable partner for SpaceX’s approach. NASA will only screw it up.
Space X should have noted that Ice on Mars, which is underground is not a renewable asset, and therefore relying on it for long-term usage, isn't the way to go!
It's great to dream but given the recent difficulty with NASA's inability to return two folks from the ISS the wake-up alarm bell is ringing.
Покорить целую планету – это КРУТО!
НАДЕЮСЬ, МЕСТНЫЕ ЖИТЕЛИ НЕ БУДУТ ВОЗРАЖАТЬ?
I suspect the ice on Mars will be quite Saline. perhaps more salty than sea water on Earth. More like Salt lake. Would be good
to develope the machinery now for the extreme conditions.
Also on water piping, at Mars ambient temps, insulation wont be enough to protect from freezing, and you would have to have the water hot going thru the pipes, or risk owning a linear ice cork. I would suggest the pipes be heated, and that system be drained down when not in use.
One worries about Mars systems designed by Earth Nerds who have grown up as a protected species in customized urban environments…
This might not be good in temperatures that make Antarctica look like Hawaiian Shirt weather…
Talking about a place you'd die in minutes if your space suit heater went on the fritz…
And that you'd best have furry space suits just to save energy….
So far, no furry space suits in renders.
I wonder if anyone has calculated the heat loss and energy requirement? Our Martian explorers might need extension cords… 😂 Or backpack nuclear power plants….😱
Talking about an ambient where if you hosed out boiling water, most of it would turn into frozen vapor before it hit dirt. So any leaks in your hot water lines would be detected by snowdust piles…
I lived a couple years in the Aleutians, So have a clue about unpleasant climates, and the Aleutian climate is way better than Antarctica, which is way better than Mars… I also know how absurd organizations can be….
I stopped by the surplus store before going to the Aleutians and stocked up on Arctic gear… And when I got there, learned the Navy figured your issue jacket was enough… Talking a jacket good for a summer evening in Oregon….
Nobody said schitt about any coat you could get and wore over your uniform…
And the sea water temp would kill you in 15 minutes if you fell in.
So I dont think adequate thought has been put into requirements for Mars realities.
Its gonna be way worse than winter in Sibera…
MAYBE …. Make Believe Musk … should concentrate on getting to Orbit first … carrying more than a Useless Banana … And they still need to finish building the Boca Chica Circus ! …. They also currently , have nothing but ever changing Prototype Boosters , Spaceships and Engines … with no final product in sight …… So who gives a chit about far away Toxic Mars … when they're still at Ground Zero …… 😕
I would like to see them put a station in orbit first, for logistics, emergencies, etc then work on an on planet settlement.
NASA must allow SpaceX to develop the Nuclear rocket engine. Man will never make it to Mars without speed and gravity. 36 Trapezoid 85x85x95x95 degree craft connected side by side will give a ring and if the large side is 12m at 3.5rpm will give 1g on the outer floor & 2.5rpm .52gs. This will give 4 level about 200 to 400 humans based time in route. For landing 7 HEX 8m pads will be a starting system. But all this, the Nuclear Rocket engines are needed.
You need additional radiation shielding after carrying crew through interplanetary space for months?
The irony of Elon Musk saying he was launching 4 vehicles to Mars this year. Well 2024 is here and unfortunately a lot of people have not learned how full of BS Elon is and how his words are complete crap.
Starship can barely make it to orbit….empty! And this is an interplanetary vehicle powered by CHEMICAL engines! How can people be this Dumb..
Amazing!
SO highly thrilling and mind-boggling in going to Mars.
I am positive, hopeful. No worries, I'll bring all my H2O with me, I'll conserve during my 2wks vaca in MARS.
MAYBE, at tht time yr 2035, SpaceX will accept my Earthlings 🌎 payload of Flight ✈️ compounded rewards in addition, I'll save all my red-penny, only then I'll be able to travel to Mars.
LET'S GO TO MARS, do U copy tht Starbase🤭😜😝😁🤣 this is ur ~kat🤓 speaking 🔊 😂
Merry Christmas 🤶
✨️🎄🌟
THANK U 🌟💜✨️ for giving us Our daily Cont. Ed~sub. Elon's SpaceX 101-10 Moon and Mars
Again, Thank yah
🙏 AMEN 🙏
Give Musk the OK then SpaceX would start Launching Rockets to Deliver the Supplies Needed to Build Shelters and such ahead of Landing People to Mars Start Now!!!
I don't think nuclear is the answer. It seems short sighted? I think much work needs to be done on drive systems. Nuclear seems to me to be a hybrid system rather than a solution.?🤔
Where the fuel going to go in that?
!!I am at the beginning of my "investment journey", planning to put 385K into dividend stocks so that I will be making up to 30% annually in dividend returns. any good recommendation on great performing stocks or Crypto will be appreciated.
This is pure fantasy gonna have to be quantum leaps in propulsion and energy production before humans on mars
Until we build a rotating ring ferry using nuclear propulsion to move between mars and earth it makes sense to have a standalone nuclear powered propulsion tugboat. It could push starships up to speed and provide electricity in transit. The ship lands and the tugboat repeats with another ship.
NASA should’ve been doing rotating low gravity research since the 90s. I want to see sports in low g. Like what would football look like in 50% gravity? How about basketball?
Distance is why the moon is so vastly important. Perfecting things on the moon first before sending them all the way to Mars is the smart thing to do.
The idea of using Martian water ice for both life support and fuel is a game-changer. It’s incredible to see techniques adapted from Antarctic operations finding interplanetary applications.
why not use Boring company to build an underground city in Mars?
Mars is a huge planet? Mars has two orbiting moons?@
dropping landing on mars is one onjective
Taking off returnning is a totaly diffrent problem.
Touching down securing a base on a moon
or both? as a station
Robotic pre landed maschines and vehicles
could be made to work in near real time
to map collect annalies experiment
load samples and lift off to the moons
awaiting bases?
Bases can nbe sent set up
secured to the small orbiting moons
with supplies aquipment food fuel
vegitation growing pods
Better than the Antarctic scientists have today>
A mtwo three Bus supply can be made
from moon orbit to mars orbit on regular
gravitational orbiting
In orbit supply stations
met refilled supplied as they drift past or moon earth
position and on back out to mars near orbit
Landing on mars can be held back utill 89% safe
DRILL DOWN BY USING A FISSION POWERED AND HEATED DRILL.
The ultimate solution is transforming
Mars's climate and environments to
be approachable to mankind.
The mars direct plan created by Dr Robert zubrin lays out a safe redundant way to send multiple vehicles to mars. The first three vehicles are unmanned. They consist of one vehicle containing machines to make water from martian ice…….and oxygen from the planets co2 atmosphere. The science to do this is over 100 years old. Robotic machines to do this are yet to be built. All will be powered by a small nuclear power plant. NASA has been sending these out in space vehicles for years. The other two vehicles include supplies for the coming crew……4-6 astronauts and a return to earth vehicle. Note the return vehicle is not fueled. It's oxidizer……liquid oxygen…..and fuel…..methane will be made on mars. The robot machines will have two years to make enough water and oxygen for the arriving astronauts and make fuel and oxidizer to fill the return space ship. Only when the tanks are full will astronauts leave earth to land at this base. The arriving astronauts come in three ships…….one they use with it's supplies…… another has more supplies……the third is another return ship . This redundant cy is safety for the astronauts. Extra supplies and an extra return ship. This happens every two years……three more vehicles arrive at the base. The cycle is every two years as the earth and Mars are closer to each other every two years. This plan makes sense……it's doable…..and economical…..$10 billion. The NASA plan is terribly complicated and the estimate is $400 billion……judging with the poor management and waste at NASA…..they will exceed this budget and they did w shuttle and space station. Do your self a favor……read the plan for yourself in Dr zubrins book…..the case for mars. Buy copies of the book and send a copy to your congressman. Tell them……this is the way to get to mars…….!!!!!!??
Let me know when StarShip can carry humans.
I would be careful in underestimating a first principles physics thinker. If you're able to start bringing fuel to a Starship, that's already in orbit. As the Starship, that's in orbit reaches the right amount of fuel to refuel the one that is going to Mars. Then, that Starship can collect the fuel from the one that's already in orbit and give it a full tank of fuel to go to Mars.
If you also have a Starship that can go to the moon and start making fuel on the moon, a Starship can go to a lunar orbit, refuel and go to Mars. The moons gravity is less so if we manufacture or launch Starships from the moon this will use less fuel and create less costs.
It's not just getting people to Mars, it's also "and getting them back again safely. There is an apocryphal story about Von Braun who, when asked by the American when he could get a man to the Moon he said " I can get a man there in 5 years, but if you want him back alive it will take 20 years"
Hopefully the first base is located in Valles Mariners Canyon. Its a huge canyon that stretches across the face of Mars. It's 3000 km long, 600 km across and up to 8 km deep. This would give easier access to frozen water and resources. There are several unique areas that would make excellent sites for bases. Since it is in the central plain region it recieves maximum sunlight.
I could see several mining colony cities interlinked by high a speed trains.
