  1. I’m someone who has never cared about lyrics in music, and I’ve also never understood the critique of “they resemble X but they don’t do it as good as X, therefore it’s not good” (it doesn’t add up logically to me – I think you must judge music on its on merit alone. In fact, that is what happens if you let the music grow on you).. And low and behold, I’m actually able to really enjoy this album! So far I only skip 3 songs regularly, but I’m starting to enjoy Kill or be Killed more and more

  2. I think the album is quite good , I pretty much like every song. It's tiring hearing Muse getting constantly criticized. It's pretty simple , if you don't like it then don't listen to it. Just leave them alone and let them do what they do best. Music is a form of art , not everyone is going to like or praise it.

  3. If you just take the best tracks from the last 4 albums we can pretend that muse released 1 decent album in the last decade T_T

I actually don't mind this album as much, this one is fun. So was simulation theory. But still not touching the first four in terms of quality.

  4. Found this review a bit too predictable… I seem to be in the minority in this comment section, but I do in fact love this album.
I'm also a long term Muse fan and to be honest I think this is the most "Muse sounding" album since Black Holes and Revelations.

Once this album is seen for what it is, a best of Muse, but with new songs, it totally makes sense, as it encapsulates all sounds that make Muse a band (Matt even said so in an interview). Does the album feel connected as a whole? No it doesn't, does it need to be like that with every album, I don't think so. Comparing "How can I move on" with "You make me feel like it's Halloween" doesn't make sense because you're not meant to be looking for that continuity in this case.

I do partially agree on the subject of the political lyrics, but just because they've been recycling that idea since the Resistance, I think it's to move on honestly. As for the "vagueness" of the lyrics, I don't understand that argument, why does everyone want lyrics to be so specific? I think the intention is not to alienate your audience and direct the lyrics towards what you feel you identify with the most, and I'm all for that, lyrics don't always need to be about a specific issue, specially when it involves politics.

I have to make a remark about your opinion about "Won't Stand Down" though… "Gross and annoying" uh? Said no one ever, literally everyone I know loves that song, my only problem with it is that it doesn't go on for longer. Does it sound "Imagine Dragons – ish"? It does in the verse but the similarities stop there as it packs the punch that Imagine Dragons lacks in every department. This album is the most fun I've had listening to Muse since ages.

To wrap up, I think people go hard on Muse after they changed their sound a bit after BH&R, but I think they deserve all the credit for every experiment that they have made, because while other bands skip instruments to lay on some beat, Muse has always used real instruments either live or in studio to perform even the most electronic sounds, even when they made dubstep Matt was using his guitar. This can't be overlooked and they have all my respect for keeping their "uniqueness" in this overflown era of music.

  5. You lost me at won't stand down, that song actually goes off and it's a bright spot for me on this. Calling it "imagine dragons" esque is just wrong lmao yeah that's right you have the first ever opinion on art to be W R O N G hahahahahah pls someone hold me

  6. I'll never forget that they put 100 percent of their effort into it when I saw them live, even though the theatre was mostly empty. From the Absolution tour in Canada. They didn't hit it big until Black Holes and Revelations came out, and I think that was their last decent album.

  7. Lol melon doesn’t like muse singing about the same things they’ve always sung about but doesn’t like it because he’s on the political side of big government and corporations. Yah, a bloated shill like Fantano isn’t going to like it

  8. Did he miss the part where "You Make Me Feel Like It's Halloween" is not only a super-cheesy John Carpenter vamp but a super-cheesy John Carpenter vamp about abusive relationships?

  9. Amazing. The Left controls all three branches of government and somehow even their own voting base feels that “times are dark”.

Maybe instead of constantly screaming about Orange man being bad, try formulating practical, sensible, reasonable ideas that resonate with the majority of American people … rather then just being outraged and offended all the time. Nerds.

  10. When the singles for this album first appeared on the radio, I couldn't believe how bad they were. I actually think Muse's first four albums are great, but they've grown less and less interesting with each subsequent album, and Will of the People is astoundingly awful. I can't believe I'm listening to the same album as people who think it's good. It's like someone recorded a parody of a Muse album.
