  1. While I was living in Europe for 16 years, I have personally seen that in Germany and France, Concrete Rail Road Ties are always used because the Concrete Ties hold the Trains on the Tracks much more securely.

The wooden Ties rot out after time even after being treated with Creosote wood preservative and the Bolts pull out which causes the Rail to be loose.

The wooden Ties are not able to withstand the extreme Stress of the Train hitting the Dump Truck. This why the Train De- Railed.

Take a look at "Rail Construction Trains in Germany" on YouTube. I believe that you will find this very interesting to watch.

These Rail Construction Trains in Germany are over 2 miles long. This special Construction Train automatically takes up the old Railroad Ties and the old gravel, then at the same time, places the new Concrete Ties down, precisely spaced from the last Tie, and then puts down new gravel, then the Rail is replaced, to begin with. Extremely complicated Machinery.

The Germans are far more advanced in Railroad Technology than the Americans are.

  2. What's really weird is NBC said there was over "240 passengers on the Amtrak", on their first news broadcast. This broadcast, was 2 hours after that, (also posted by NBC), and it says there was 207 passengers. Hmmm.

  3. I thought we had our independence long before the British empire could have left us with railroads we're still using? Maybe we should share parts with India, the Middle East, and Africa?

  4. AMTRAK CREW 2022 !!

    We're just a Amtrak crew

    Racing down the track

    Far from our families

Who will miss us till we're back.

    We're running by the river

    As it flows muddy brown

    Everywhere at nighty

    Someone hears our sound.

As we glide across a silver bridge

    Above the Mighty Mo.

What we'll see when we look down

    We never really know.

Behind us on those rolling wheels

    Are cars with souls inside

If we should jump the rail

    History shall judge our ride.

    When we reach the station

    We’ll head for the hotel

Crawl in bed all by ourselves

    And dream until the bell.

  6. At first I thought this was just an accident but the way things have been going I wonder if this wasn't done on purpose. Poor train. Just minding your own business watching the scenery and bam !!! Very scary. 🇺🇸🦅

  7. People are in the comments here dissing train travel when it's the most economically and environmentally friendly. This was on the driver , not the train. let's talk about how many people die in car accidents daily due to negligence on a driver's behalf. Or maybe let's take a look into how many people survived this derailment as opposed to how many would have survived a plane crash? Train travel is the future, let go of the past. Ignorance is bliss though, so have fun with that. Rest in peace to everyone affected, but people need to realize the real issue.

  8. To everyone blaming the ties since they are wooden:
It doesn’t matter, period. The dump truck was loaded which means when Amtrak’s light locomotives hit it, they were easily thrown off the rail thus taking the train with them. At 79+ miles an hour the train will destroy anything next to the railbed (including the rail) depending on the circumstance as it derails.
