Sky News host James Macpherson says Mr Bean actor Rowan Atkinson has been named and blamed for the slowdown in EV sales in the United Kingdom.
“The sale of EVs in the UK has slowed down so much the government has halved its sales forecasts,” Mr Macpherson said.
“The government had planned that by 2027 67 per cent of all new cars sold would be EVs.
“Now they’re saying it is only going to be about 38 per cent.”
Mr Bean actor Rowan Atkinson is the culprit according to the House of Lords for the decline in EV popularity.

When the councils in London just announced that parking fees for EVs will be increased by 1800% because of the environmental damage caused by their manufacture, the weight of the vehicles causing road damage and the fossil fuels burned to produce electricity to recharge them, is it any wonder that people are refusing to buy these worthless dinosaurs? The goal of the UK government is to stop people from being able to travel, take away their livelihoods and force them back into slavery and serfdom. Neither the Labour nor the Conservative parties can be trusted at this point. They are all bent on oppressing the people of the UK.

Capitalism is about letting the buys and consumers have a say in the market, not gave it be force upon us! Increased insurance rates, poor mileage on recharge, battery degrades over time, heavier vehicles, poor to no resale value after 5 years, sign me up.
British government again about 3-years behind the facts and data. We now know you can't work on EVs, the batteries degrade with use, insurance is high (see previous facts), oh, and they keep catching fire….

The slowdown is down to cost, and advancement in technology, coupled with energy costs.
Recharging in UK is a doodle the infrastructure is good. I did over 80000km with no issue over 2 years.

Mr Bean will always be the Peoples Person. He tells it like it is. Here in the US we have a saying if the EV's are so good why does the government have to pay people to drive them. If someone has to convince you as to what is good for you chances are it is NOT.
The worst thing about EVs is the resale value. I'm fine spending an extra 15% for a car if it holds its value but EVs are not expensive because of the higher initial costs but rather the rate of depreciation.
