Mother And Baby Killed In Drive-By Shooting In Moruga, Suspect Held

A suspect has been held and an assault weapon recovered by the Southern Division Unit after the murder of a mother and her infant daughter on Monday night.

According to reports, Akiel Brereton, Sashell Elliot, and their one and a half year old daugher, Nova Brereton, were at Number Two Fort George, at a parlour owned by the couple at around 7:50pm when a vehicle pulled up and one man got out with a rifle. He opened fire suddenly, injuring all three victims.

They were rushed to the Princes Town Health Facility but the mother and daughter later died. Akiel Brereton is said to be in a stable condition at hospital.

The car that was involved was later intercepted by police at Crawford Street in Ste. Madeleine.

The victim’s uncle says this country needs a strong spiritual revival as the fear of God is no longer in people’s hearts.

  2. Hearing a lot about God, but what I’m not hearing is people taking responsibility for bringing children into this world and not teaching them to respect life. It all begins in the home.
