Morrowind – Part 11 – Never Say Nerevarine

Morrowind continues, as we abuse some exciting new spells to commit acts of heresy, become puzzled by a puzzle box, and struggle to pronounce a very important word…

  1. Make weaker, shorter and cheaper versions of spells that are hard to cast, like levitate. With long duration spells you can make shorter ones that cost much less but are still just as useful, like bound mace for example. You can make one for 18 seconds that only costs 1 magicka, is more likely to suceed and still lasts long enough for almost all fights!

  2. Almsivi intervention spell teleports to tribunal temples which are in towns with fast travel. mark and recall are better for returning to dungeon when u sell your loot in town. High level stuff in this game is heavy af.

  3. On the road to Balmora today I paused to rest by the river when an Orc came skipping along the surface of the water at speed like a thrown stone skipping across the water endlessly. She seemed to be talking to herself so I didn't call out to her, and she seemed like she couldn't see me anyway, but she had a very interesting hat at least.

  4. Yeah Jon, Jumping in Morrowind IS faster than running. Not only that, it's more Stamina Efficient. So if you're bunny hopping towards your goal you'll likely have higher fatigue and not be caught out nearly exhausted by a random cliffracer or something.

  5. So proud of you for finding that puzzle box (presumably) without looking up a guide. Great big underground ruin, tiny little quest item, and no markers other than – as you mentioned – a boss.

  6. Ha, ha, yep! Unlike todays "You cannot fast travel when enemies are nearby…", you can grab an expensive thing, aggro the guards, and then "Recall!" (poof!) Might be considered "cheap", but with all the skill rolls required for everything you do, I think it's ok. 😊

  7. With your characters personality and your luck what are the odds the spell just fails once you grow dependant on that safety lol , don't know if it can but I chuckled thinking about it. Thx for yet another great episode , this is where my love for elder scrolls began

  8. I wonder how often this happens in the Elder Scrolls universe? Just your average day in Balmora, when out of nowhere, a flaming Orc appears out of nowhere, screaming in pain and desperately healing themselves until the flame dies down, and then goes to the local shop selling ebony and daedra hearts.

  9. He is starting to discover why morrowind is loved.

Some games are designed to be played in a mindless fashion. Skipable dialog, quest markers, on screen prompts, no creative solutions needed. This is too maximize the size of the possible audience for the game, and increase profitabllity.

Morrowind comes from a time when bethesda games were allowed to be niche. Aimed at a narrow, clever, and imagative audience, who must read and understand instructions and think for themselves.

Such a shame that Bethesda must now only be a giant money making machine, moving as many copies as possible.

I sense that the love and passion has not completly gone from them, not even in the inferior Starfield.

But is there anyone else take up the torch that was lit in Morrowind? We can only hope.

  10. I love how you read some of the lore books NPC's recommended. The main plot is almost all the type of political intrigue mentioned in the War of the First Council. And while you dont have to read every in fame text relating to the plot to appreciate the context and implications of your in-game actions, reading a few here and there makes the experience of the game feel so much richer.

  11. Another way of using mark and recall is to go out looting and when you're all full up you can drop a mark. Then use an intervention (Divine for the cult, AlmSiVi for the temple – probably the better choice, since you're a member) to bounce you to the nearest appropriate house-of-worship where you can sell up and re-stock on adventuring gear (They're generally at a settlement, for more shops), then when you're all prepared for the next step in the delve you can recall to where you were, and get right back to looting. Also, be aware that jumping downhill is a good way to shatter your ankles – you can't fall much further than the apex of your jump without taking damage, so if the ground slopes away you might fall further than is safe as your acrobatics increases. Thanks for the video, it's lovely to see Morrowind through fresh eyes.

  12. Jon, Bound weapons you get conjuration for the casting of it then any points you gain from using it for that weapon type also remember I believe they give you a +10 skill bonus in that weapon type while active.
