More Magic the Gathering Cards DUMPED at a Recycling Center! WTF WotC?

For the second time in a month, images of trashed Magic the Gathering cards have found their way onto reddit. What is going on here, Wizards of the Coast? Are they dumping cards after being called out for overproducing cards?

  1. All that work you guys put into recycling when you should really look into the companies that are in charge of dealing with the recycling. Most of what you “recycle” just gets thrown in a shipping container and dumped off in some 3rd world country

  2. its clearly being done by the manufacturer, it would be a far more drastic action for a retailer to do it, because they've paid for the cards. trade price, but still.
for the manufacturer of course, they only cost pennies to make

  3. May be if they just didn't flood the market with a product every month and a half in a period of economic struggle, things like these could be avoided.
Alas, papà Hasbro needs it's golden crutch to not fall down the bankruptcy stairs.

  4. Due to the high probability of finding shiny cards in packs nowadays, I don't think mtg would be recycled, unless one wanted to go through the trouble of opening every pack, which, if you're trashing them, is an incredible waste of time/money.

  5. I started playing MtG back in 1994. Yes, I still have all my cards. When Hasbro bought WotC shortly after WotC bought TSR, (was somewhere around 1999 iirc), we all knew what was about to happen. First thing, they jacked up the prices. Then they greatly increased the release pace, with a simultaneous drop in card quality. And out popped Mercadian Masques! Blurgh…. Few years later we got the new card-type, planeswalkers, which broke the game. Haven't played seriously since. I did give it a go once recently. Was hilarious. I curb-stomped an entire store cold with a pre-packaged deck. Power-creep is real.

  6. Race-swapping established characters is diversity black-facing of thosse characters for no real good reason now other than to stick it in the face of the original given race of that established character. At one time it was creative emulation of a loved character by individual fans but this is now about destruction and division.

  8. YuGiOh seeing this with his 3 online games and 4 different game modes : I don't need exodia to kill you I'm just skiping my turn by the way let's release a stronger version of a old card who many want to obtain but is hard to find and is weak today so you gain the hard card you want easier without turning the old card obsolete

  9. Hasbro went to windowless boxes to hide the poor quality trash they want to pass off as action figures.

All Hasbro has to do is:
    Use window bexes.
    Use high quality plastic.
    Use good distribution.
    Use low prices.

getting some money is better than getting no money.

  10. Clearly it's not wizard if pokemon is to be found, and pokemon doesn't have problems with moving merch, specially because when a set doesn't sell in America, is shipper towards secondary markets (latin America and Europe, that has their own language versions BUT also collect English cards). There's more going on here.

  11. The thing about those "missing windows" is that the material known as "Cellophane" is from plant fibre and if it isn't printed on, or other modifications are made to it you can compost it.
So, yeah they (Hasbro) are crapping all ofer you and tell you it's snowing and then raining, even when it's first brown, then yellow!

  12. You should make a comic book out of the Shit Five with members being Kneon, Geeky Sparkles, Squid King, Pinky Boo and your dog (can’t remember his name). It can be something like Scooby Doo where all five of you solve mysteries, only you unmask lies instead of monsters with the famous line, “and the lie behind this mask is…” and Mickey Mouse or the Animaniacs for Warner Bros are behind the mask.

I kid, but the idea sounds hilarious.

  13. They are mixing all kinds of plastic and other stuff in bulk with the paper recycle. That should result in WoTC/Hasbro getting a massive fine since that will cause a ton of problems with the recycle centers.

  14. Amazing how you have these DISGUSTING Hypocritical SJWS claim to hate injustice, pollutions, and even claim to be anti Big businesses. When they LITERALLY support the opposite! They kiss disgusting megacorps like Hasbro and Disney, say nothing but sexual and racial Slurs, and support companies that leaves the biggest amount of Carbon Foot print.

  15. Didn't Magic recently release a LotR themed set featuring a bunch of race-swapped characters? While stunning and brave, it's not something anyone aside from the creators actually wanted.

It turns out to remain a business, you need customers.
