Monster Tribe Release Date Confirmed… But There's a Catch..

I really want your guys’ opinions on this. I am in no way, shape or form, trying to say that anyone is entitled to a specific release date, and fully understand that it’s not always feasible to avoid every other game’s release date, but I feel like in such a small niche, this is WAY too close and should have been planned out better, especially given the context I mentioned in the video

  1. I completely forgot about this game but I definitely am gonna be too busy with cassette beasts to hop right into this one if I even remember about it when I'm done with cassette beasts

  2. This is a very good point Ed I do agree with it’s already difficult for indie games to generate sales and reach a lot of people so the last thing we need is for indie developers to compete with each other by releasing games so close to each other

  3. I get the feeling Monster Tribe might be overshadowed by Cassette Beast, they should at least push MT to the end of may. I doubt people who are saving up for CB will pivot and wait for MT. MT has a cool art style but in my opinion CB is more eye catching. From casual googling more people are paying attention to CB.
Monster Tribe is not the best name when it comes to searching for it, especially on steam. If you open steam on a logged out page an search the name of the game how many letters do you need to type before it appears? CB only needs 3 (cas) but MT needs 10 (monster tri) before it. This might seem a little nitpicky but for me I'm going to choose the best looking mon game especially if it's easier to find.

  4. While I get your point and it definitely harms the devs, I also think this shouldn't be a problem for a monster taming fan. Sure, it's annoying for a content creator but the average monster taming fan can just buy both of these games and play one after the other. I mean it's not like we get showered with monster taming games all year anyways x3 So I'm just glad for every entry we get in the end and just add them to my backlog to come back to them at a later point in time 😉

  5. Yeah, they're definitely shooting themselves in the foot releasing the game right after Cassette Beasts.

My guess is that the Publisher didn't do their research when they picked the current release date and here we are.

  6. Bro, you need someone as passionate as you, who can cover the other games and contribute to the channel. Give it a try, someone might do it for free at the beginning and see if the channel grows!

  7. "most temtem creators left before the game even launched…" this is due to the fact that most of the mechanics and open world stuff was done long before launch, during the early access period. This means the content they already created is still valid for the launch version since nothing of import to progression had changed. This is the downside to early access, if you want launch day content then the launch day version of the game has to have enough new changes to baseline content that's already been made to warrant creators updating their guides, but in doing so you have the potential to alienate the existing base who got used to the way things were.

  8. I'll likely check the game out after playing through Cassette Beasts, but I do wish monster taming devs would try and spread out the releases a bit more.

  9. It's the same issue fighting game fans face. They're a type of game you are likely to devote a ton of time to, but if two release close together, then fans have to choose if they want to split their time or just ignore one.

  10. Honestly I don't think it affects much for this genre if you take your time making Cassette Beasts content and then start with Monster Tribes well after release. Monster taming fans fall into 2 categories: rabid fans that have gone meta and collect monster tamer games, and casual pokemon players that might mayyyyybe know there's something called digimon out there. Ultimately, most monster tamer games are indie-made and relatively cheap, so there's simply no reason for a fan of the genre to not pick up both.

  11. Then there's me still making temtem content surviving on copium. Edit: Forgot to mention they make it even more difficult for their very small content creation group to make content when they go and drop bugs that are complete gamebreaking making it even harder to make said content lol.

  12. Pretty much agree, for such a small genre release window is paramount. One thing I'd add is that if you do cover monster tribe, it might be a good idea to do it properly when it gets it's first sale since thatll probably be when a lot of people jump at the game

  13. I don't think developers can afford to just push their game out a month because of another game releasing. They are also very different games. Another similar subgenre, card battlers, tends to have multiple games releasing at the same time. But these aren't $60 games. People can afford to buy multiple, but I don't feel Monster Tribe and Cassette Beasts are going to target the same audience. Like you said, it's not the monsters that made you like the subgenre, its the RPG elements. So, no, I don't think the devs should work with each other to release their games and I don't think they could. They are competing businesses, not friends playing Yu-gi-oh on the playground.

As far as your content release windows and schedule, I do feel you tend to not spread out your videos as well as you could. I know you want to strike while the iron is hot, but I do think audience burnout is real. You can create videos on both games at the same time and intersperse them in your schedule so that people get an even mix. You have a fair variety of content, which is good and helpful, so make videos on both and and also sprinkle in some things that aren't either. I would recommend finding some minor niches, like speedruns, challenge runs, mods, etc, that you find enjoyable and use those as filler. You tend to have news, base game let's plays, and guides. All of those require a lot of time or effort to make, and it would be good for you and for audience burnout to have easier videos, like relaxed mod plays, to fill in gaps and help spread out other content, especially during dry seasons. I'm not here to tell you how to do your job, but its just friendly advice.
