I found an interview from 3 years ago & it has BIG Wilds implications! Enjoy!

So, just a wild theory about the EDW, but what if we have already seen a finished one. (the concept art is a half finished one) As something that is unnatural, when looking at monsters that feel the most unnatural I look at Fatalis and think "what if he's a rampant EDW? One that the kindom of Shried (forgive the misspelling) activated by accident." Its a fun concept to think about, especially when you look at Fatalis lore, it's regenerative abilities, it's effect on the natural ecology and even its power. Again, just a wild idea for fun
Plot twist: the new world and surrounding lands are actually the ancient world and the dalamadur and zoramagdaros that act as the foundation of the new world and guiding lands were remnants of the war killed by the ancient civilization.
Note: I am a 5th gen who has basically no knowledge past this video on the deeper monster hunter lore. This purely an idea that just popped into my head while watching this.
😮
I'm really hoping Wyvern Rex appears in Wilds with all these "extinct species classification" theories that everyone is talking about. That would be so awesome I would cry lol. If not the base game then hopefully the future dlc expansion master rank for Wilds.
people have been theorizing that gaismagorm is a pseudo-equal dragon weapon
If Wilds is to be the ground setting for, or even exactly THE MH game that'll show us what was the ancient civilization era, monsters and stuff, I'm all in for that. I know that it's maybe too "dreamy" right now for the little info on story we have, but if there's a chance to be faced with what's been"MH secrets never told before", I would be on a living dreams anyways, hahahaha, so be it!
1. Equal Dragon weapon is just a hunter. We kill dragons all the time. 2. They used the model in the book for Zorah Magdaros under his shell. 3. Profit?
Moment it becomes canon in game oh ima hype gell out of it. Consudering thwres hints to a old war. The dragon weapon is just concept the old civilization and such are fact from in game text.
Imagine a dragon war and it ends not in us beong a hero but a survivor were last fight is survive fatalis and we beat it but cutscene is it comes back up pissed and destroys city being castle schrade. From then on its us and the scarlet mystery man and others forming the guild. Thats how it ends guild being formed. Us meeting Scarlet mystery man, etc. With extonct species ending in game its us wiping them out by the people consudering after each quest. Rather then us hunting the weapon we see it fight fatalis just for him to wipe it and scheade out fully
If they don't want to make the equal dragon weapon a fight, id be fine with them putting it's model in a game and have it twitch or move slightly in a cuscene or something, then go limp again to show that it was a failure and the idea was abandoned by the ancient civilization. I'd like this because it's a bit absurd to try to fit the equal dragon weapon into monster hunter's semi realistic lore.
just say you saw the leaks and stfu
We could make the Ultimate Hunter, harvest parts from Rage, Cotton and Hollow!
Wilds will be the 1st Monster Hunter to get 2 expansions.
I still feel people are reading too much into the "extinct" species part. By that I mean, people are assuming it means the ones like Wyvern Rex and shit that went extinct hundreds of thousands if not millions of yeara ago that all modern monsters are descended from, but so far, the game instead seems to mean "monsters that were driven to extinction more recently, probably because of humans".
For proof of this, the intro to the game outright states that the area of the Forbidden Lands has only been off-limits for the past 1000 years. That is not very long, in terms of evolution. Not mention that that implies that humans were originally there. So, it probably was an area that only became off-limits after the end of the Ancient Dragon War. And based off of how talk about that time always seems to include monsters that are around currently in the timeline of the game, it implies that all the monsters around now were monsters around back then too.
You know, like how in the real world, literally every animal we have around now has been here since before human civilization started. And there are definitely animals that were around when Ancient Egypt, Roman Empire, and such that are no longer here today, and in every case, the animals went extinct because of humans (Obviously, with my emphasis on "human civilization" I am referring to after the last Glacial period ended and not referring to the Late Pleistocene Extinction event, as a lot of species went extinct around that time due the change in climate and not simply because humans over-hunted them.) In the past couple thousands of years, humans have directly caused the extinction of numerous species, including Aurochs, White Rhinos, Dodos, Moas, Thylacines, and Stellar's Sea Cows, just to name a few.
And to me, it seems much more likely that when this game refers to "extinct species", it is referring to creatures we (the guild) know existed because records exist of humans hunting them to extinction, not to creatures whose millions of years old fossils were only discovered recently.
Honestly the EDW actually does seem like to be something that could be possible since the hunters are coming up with various different ways to combat monsters and its not like they havent seen some monsters that you could never have hoped to see like arkveld
EDW looking like a badass Digimon (Devidramon specifically imo)
I would prefer the idea of EDW being a failed attempt at creating something monsterous, and an elder dragon of some kind adopts its remains to use as weaponry. Maybe even something like an Ahtal-Ka controlling it from within. Obviously it would need to be a new monster, but the idea of it being a failed creation makes way more sense to me than a monster flesh golem.
Im not interested in fighting in the Ancient dragon war. not my kind of team or setting x3 but i would LOVE to play a game where you can feel the impact of that war in a more tangible way. have a bit more context, keep it vague as to much of this would taint the fun vibe of monster hunter, but leave that deeper lore simmering under the surface, and then some post game you just happen to be sent to a decrepit ruin, that happens to be made of Kushala plate, or something, having an oddly high tech vibe. you fall through the floor and you see that THING the equal dragon weapon, trussed up in the ceiling, likely in for repairs after a clash with fatalis or some other terrifying beast, and it appears all the world to be dead, only for you or your palico to trip up, make some noise, and it starts moving, tearing itself free, as it starts coming at you with everything it has, whatever allowing the ancients to control this monstrosity long corroded due to the centuries of neglect and now its just out for blood, and you have to run, because until you get to a good vantage point or figure out some way to hurt it, you're its target practice after centuries of being cooped up. I would absolutely love that scenario, and squeal at the sheer spectacle and lore implications. Monster hunter as it is, trying to live in harmony with nature is a grand old time, treating life and death struggles with nature as a festival, but getting a glimpse of those dark origins, would suddenly show why the guilds focus on balance is so important and clues us in pretty firmly on why it came to be, stopping tragedies from the past, from playing out again. adds a lot more depth and weight to the situation i think :3
also the fact that the new game is being set in a place called the "forbidden lands" from what i hear, just sounds like a good place to explore this idea. Why was it forbidden? perhaps because something horrible happened there, that the guild wishes to never repeat. something that made the land dangerous and taboo. i think i recall something about the wyverians taking humanity under their wing after everything happened and started the guild. cant tell if I'm remembering correctly or not, but i could just see those wyverians warning the humans against going there, and never truly telling them why, to prevent them from stumbling into such a horrible truth, and the reason eventually being forgotten completely as history not shared tends to do.
All monsters have been leaked and im sad
Guys as always it's a bit of fun talking about the EDW and as I say at the start this entire discussion/theory is around literally Dev interview responses and nothing more, it's shame something so cool ruffles feathers by simply existing, I don't know why a small minority would want MH to be… like lamer?
Oooooh I so wish for this to be a thing in wilds
josh
it wasn't your fault
it's been years
you can let the equal dragon weapon go
I really hope Wilds handles the old civy lore with care!
I always enjoy any MonHun discussions, it’s just fun to think about what could possibly happen, only to be more surprised with what does happen in the actual game, which is another reason I will always love these games
I agree with keeping those stuff a mystery because it preserves the power scaling. For example, one thing I hate about Fatalis is that we killed it. That makes it's power questionable. Did it really destroy Schrade? Or was it something else?
Have you seen the new mh post on Instagram ?
Man your titles so fuckinng confusing
I really have no idea what the video will be about
All of it algorithm keywords shit
As much as people hate on it, please dont stop talking about MH and Wilds. I dont care, i just need constant chatter about it lmao
What if Arkveld is an EDW but somewhat perfected to look like an actual monster and that's why it's an unknown class and also why it's going around attacking the other apexes? And if that's the case maybe it isn't the only EDW in the game
I’m one of the few who loves the implied MH lore and I would love to see the Ancient Civilization explored. I never understood people who say that the EDW is too outlandish. The Artian armor existing shows that the ancients had insanely advanced tech, I see no reason why they wouldn’t be able to make a bioengineered dragon.
The equal dragon weapon should follow the old rules for black dragons. Tell us nothing and let us see it in game when its ready. The reveal will be legendary
It. Is. A. Concept.
How about talking about real Monster Hunter News? Like how they found the whole Gypceros quest in the Demo’s code ?
can you do a video on the new monster that was shown in the welcome to monster hunter video? it’s at 9:32 drawn next to a reydau it looks like a wendigo.
Never heard about equal dragon weapons.
didn’t you say this last year?
