  1. This is not a 0 sum game, we can have both the old subspecies and the new extinct species concepts in a game. Wiat, 4U… Not MH4? That's not a fair comparison because that's a G rank game, not a base game.

I won't happen in base game but I would kind of love a rotating of the wheel where each subspecies of the apexes goes to the map that follows their element swap. oil octopus going to the water map for just octopus, thunder wyvern moving to the volcano, etc. Not take 2 and switch them but have them kind of rotate as a group.

If they grant my wish for him, I want azure back. Said wish is to have base rathalos use a moveset akin to World rathalos and azure using one more akin to Rise rathalos. I feel like that would be enough to, finally, make those 2 different enough from one another. Pink rathian I always liked. She's great for new players, using her worse hit zones on most of her to teach you precision more. It's not hit anywhere on the tail to cut it. You really want to hit the tip to not bounce, and the other pink shell but non-bouncy bit is the head. She's better than azure now but that can change. For azure, it could be almost a copy paste, since Rise is the same engine. Maybe add some new things but Rise's fight for rathalos was so different that people will enjoy it anyway.

They could give emerald congalala the lunastra treatment and I'd be happy with that. They could also give blue kut ku that lunastra treatment, as well or instead. I'd be happy either way. I want them to try to fix these lesser old gen subspecies at some point. Shrouded desperately needs a retcon, all they have to do is give us a desert dwelling white paralysis creature that is neigh immune to thunder for her to skin. Replace her connection with khezu because he's never in the desert/shrouded's only map so that make 0 sense for her ecology. Also make her not hang from the sky anymore, it was silly at the time but doesn't suit the more ecological feel of the games now. She can hang from the things balahara coils around. I was also reminded, recently, that the only reason nerscyla has poision crystals is solidified liquid from the venom she takes out of gypceros… Khezu's paralysis is not venom, it's electric shocks only, so that doens't work either for the ecology. It has to be a new monster, the other desert dwelling paralysis monsters, like gendrome and cephadrome, are not white and are not really resistant to thunder either. Plus lala barina is already a paralysis spider for Wilds. Maybe the portable team cna fix shouded, in this way, with their next game.

  2. Those “webs” in the Oilwell Basin look like the strange netting in the cave under the oasis. That netting glows during the Sandtide, so I think that it is actually wires, which are transporting electricity from the storm to power something, perhaps in the final region.

  3. If anyone would like to know the confirmed returning monsters from the leak, I know them. I won't do story spoilers (so none of the New New monsters or associated mechanics), just the series veterans who've been missing since Gen Ult.

  4. I have to admit that the existence of all the leaks the demo datamine provided kind of messes with these speculation videos. They're still enjoyable, it's just a bit tough when things are said that are already known to probably be wrong.

  5. Imo
I hate the idea in every expansion bring new species from base game roaster
It lead me to hate new species.
But bring new species right away without having normal version in the game like crimson glow valstrax are welcome

  6. Well we do have to take into consideration that they did tell us monsters that did not have a chance to return in world will be returning in wilds. So that means there are monsters from like tri, 4, generations those old monsters that will come to wilds with all new graphical changes and such. Like, lagiacrus, najarala, malfestio could all come back and even more.

  7. I think a great opportunity to invite a interesting way of bringing a sub species in is if you kill enough of the monster it spawns a rare version of that monster. (more drops) or something like that as well. Then maybe it could lead to getting a sub species that adapted to it being hunted so much. That would be interesting. Example might be you bonk its head with a hammer and over the course of 3 to 4 the 4th or 5th spawns with a rock helmet forcing the second weapon into play. something like that would be insane.

  8. in terms of subspecies
pink rathian azure rathalos and those are quite literaly just the in game equivelent to finding a blue lobster its not a true subspecies in my opinion
because truth be told there is nothing unique about them besides the color change. its a rare mutation. not its own species

the first one that i would actually say has a true subspecies situation would be khezu and red khezu. because they are not just a dime a dozen every few are white its a situation where they have infact split off from the original red and are consistantly white
mechanicly its just a red/white variant but lore wise its an actual subspecies

many of the modern subspecies are entirely unique from their common counterpart having both unique move sets and even unique elemental differences
the best 2 examples i can think of right of f the top of my head are ratoban and uragon. the fruit monkey from rise and its pinecone subspecies from sunbreak
they arent just wearing a coat of paint. they are a diffrent variant of the monsters. they had to adapt to a different way of life and therefore deviated from the base species
    that is a proper subspecies.

what we have the potential for with wilds is the reemergence of thought to be extinct species, ancient unevolved origin species, or even hyper evolved subspecies

  9. Would like the idea of having variants or sub species out in the wild as chance encounters maybe start a fight with a normal conga and an emerald appears triggers a turf war and you get to choose if to change opponents . Not have the game focus on them by any means but like running into a shiny in Pokemon I suppose 💁

  10. I'm fine with the concept of subspecies; it helps them get more mileage out of the models. That said, the subspecies need to have at least a few unique moves/characteristics. More health and damage plus a lazy coat of paint just don't cut it.

  11. Imagine a fire/magma rey dau, the wing carve attack leaves a scorching line of flames. Its nuke is a huge flame focusing on a spot that causes the terrain to explode in magma, the lightning zaps are bursts of flame that instead of pin pointing to a player, it does a sweeping flamethrower from target to target/or if solo that covers a vaster cone of attack
