Something that would be interesting I think is if the new monster uses skin to mimic chatacabra, pretending to be prey so it can ambush other predators
Imagine seeing a chatacabra that doesn't look quite right, shambling around, and when you attack it the skin rips and a creepy bug starts folding out of the skin to attack you

i just hope we get more Leviathans, and perhaps the reveal of a Snake Wyvern.
we know we're most likely getting a snow-themed map (please let it be the pine forest the south of the Hoarfrost Reach should have been)… but no-one seems to talk about the theoretical 5th map. i know for a fact we're getting more than 4 maps in the main story.
said 5th map doesn't have to be themed on the Dragon element. rather, it could just have things related to it, old (like Dragonfell Berries) or new. or it could be where Elder Dragons are more likely to appear, like the Elder's Recess – except it's not a volcanic area with crystals; but more of a mosaic of biomes like in the Knepp Estate (which is comprised of woodland, meadow, and marsh/bog).
this 5th map could be a forest, swamp, cliffs, and meadow, all in one. or i should say, one with bits of the other maps: grasslands like the Windward Plains (except with green grass), a forest and swamp like the Scarlet Forest (both temperate, not tropical), and high elevations similar to what ice map presumably has.
now that the maps are bigger in Wilds, it's not farfetched to have something similar (and arguably better) to the Guiding Lands.

It makes the gameplay better for one, with less distractions or hit zones interfering with the fight, while also making it easier on the animators.
But it also fits the monster Hunter evolution lore. They would only have 4 legs if they followed from the other monsters evolution

I never noticed that about the hide on the switch are! That's a GREAT catch of detail 🤯 I'm wondering, assuming we'd get something like the Iceborne Glavenus treatment, if we wouldn't get regular Nerscylla in the Oilwell Basin and then a Subspecies in whatever ice element/ice monster map we get that skins Chatacabra that show up during times of Fallow. Because I feel like it would make sense for the artic map's weather to be Inclemency = Blizzard, Plenty = Calm, snowy wonderland (Hoarfrost Reach-esque conditions), and Fallow – Snow and Ice melting, lots of water.
I'm replaying World rn. I have to say the coral highlands and the rotten vale are some out there ass maps. I really hope we get more of THAT as well as the standard elemental maps.
Also, Nyrscylla is best monster. I need my CB back and I need her Master rank version. As much as World and Wilds seem to ape MH4U, like, please, just continue because 4U is incredible.
Everyone has that one monster they want to see on an extinction list. Different for every player but the powering of hating is always the same.

If the webs are from a returning spider, Rakna seems most likely. But my money is on the switch axe monster. Spiders are not the only bugs that make webs or use silk. Some centipedes do too, and large centipede species also prey on frogs. Or they might be going for a scorpion and the frog theme and give us a scorpion-spider hybrid.
A site called Game Rant talked about 4 leaked monsters which are Gore Magala, Nerscylla, Gypceros and Gravios.
Aside from skinning Chatacabra on ice map, which is great, i noticed 2 more ways for this.
1. Because Chatacabra-like pattern is under that pink thing, maybe instead of skinning, the monster takes some properties of the prey they eat and adds to its own hide.
2. Kinda similar to options above but maybe its skin parts of Chatacabra relative that dwells at ice map, maybe variant maybe subspecies but bigger and stronger.
I understand that it makes sense to be an ice map but, base world didn´t have an ice map, so it is possible there might be a unexpected map type

Gypceros doesn't have to come back; they could just put khezu and shrouded nerscylla in and it's a win-win for you Josh
REALLY cool theory/idea: what if in this game, nerscylla can wear the skin of whatever low-tier monster they come across after you've broken off their initial hide? Then an even COOLER thought is that we could get a bunch of different nerscylla weapons and depending on what low-tier monster materials you put into it, you would get a different aesthetic and different elemental properties?
I dont think we will get 4th map without dlc.
Also think about the new group bonuses, that basically means there has to be 2 monsters of each type in the game, so we should have another temnoceran to match lala barina and another amphibian to match chatacabra
You seem to be forgetting that Legiana was in World with no ice map and although I won’t claim to be an expert, I’m pretty sure that amphibians don’t tend to do well in the cold.

OMG I SAW THE CHATACABRA SKIN WHEN THE TRAILEE CAME OUT AND I WAS LIKE “BUT WHY ICE? HOW DOES SKINNING CHATACABRA RELATE TO AN ICE MONSTER?”
What if they put Nerscylla into multiple maps and depending on the map it hunts a different monster for its skin, which leads to an altered fight and monster weaknesses, a bit like a spin on a subspecies?

There was already a food item in the beta that had resistance to both hot and cold environments…
So, that lends weight to the existence of a cold biome.
