500 gm (~1 lb) of flank steak, sliced into 1 cm strips

For Marinating the Beef:
2 tsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp starch (e.g., cornstarch)

1/2 cup starch after marination

For Frying:
Generous amount of oil for frying

For the Sauce:
1 tbsp vegetable oil
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tsp of minced ginger
1 tsp of chili flakes (adjust to taste)
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/3 cup soy sauce
2/3 cup of beef broth
2 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp of water (to thicken the sauce)

For Garnish:
Sesame seeds
Chopped spring onions
