Modern Battleships In 1922 – Germany 1920 Big Guns Episode 7 – Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts

The researchers have presented me with a new hull idea. They call it the “modern battleship”. Let’s get to designing and constructing.

▪️ Yes you can, by becoming a supporter through Patreon or Youtube membership. You need to be at least Major tier to be eligible. You can find the links to these programs above.

Will you play game X?
▪️ Please search my channel first. There is a pretty good chance that I’ve already covered it. I know what games my audience and I like playing ;).

Why won’t you play War Thunder?
▪️ I raged at getting sniped by tanks that I could never see. Also nonsense like turning bushes off that helps you perform better. That seems like a terrible design to me. War Thunder also had drama several years ago about the CEO calling the fanbase to help strike down channels or using copyright strikes to eliminate channels entirely. That is such abuse of power and dictatorial nonsense that I refuse to play a game created by such a company.

  1. The reason the game has a mechanic where if you kill the escort then the transports get away is because in real life your not allowed to sink transport ships because the people who man those transport ships are normally civilians. But if they are manned by military then you can sink the transports. There are transports that just carry fuel ammo and other things during war. However if the people manning that ship are civilians you physically cannot legally sink that ship. Naval Targeting: Lawful Objects of Attack. Search that and it tells you on the first page what you can attack and cannot attack. I am also pretty sure that killing civilians of any kind is a war crime. If you kill a civilian during war time you break the Geneva convention. Though Russia should be held responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Ukraine. Does not matter how big your country is, if someone breaks a treaty it should be grounds for everyone to say fuck you to that one country who breaks it. Because lets be honest if we let Russia get off on killing thousands of Ukrainian civilians then what stops every other country from doing the same? I mean the only thing keeping the current world in some sort of peace is because people fear the might of the USA army. Without that fear wars the USA ended will spark and like a dry forest it will ignite into an inferno. Fear keeps this world from going back into an age of war and strife. Do we want another world war? Do we want to send our husbands sons and even daughters off to war? I mean the moment countries do not fear the USA north Korea and south Korea will reignite their war. The terrorists organizations will come back in numbers. Wars we have fought will come back and we will have to start over from scratch. The world peace we have will be gone. Death, chaos and strife will come back in force. So I ask you all again what is stopping this world from going back into an age of chaos and war?

P:S I sorta went off topic but what I said is true if we do not enforce the treaties we have made then there will be another hitler. There will be another world war and what happens if we do not win the next one? I am just speaking the truth. I mean the whole reason we had a world war 2 is because hitler broke the treaty and what did the British or Americans do? Nothing. We let hitler take millions of lives by not taking one single action. It is called the butterfly effect. One little event triggers a much much bigger event. Do not even get me started on world war 1. When we were winning an Australian guy on the battlefield decided not to shoot an unarmed soldier. Do you know who that unarmed soldier was? IT WAS FUCKING HITLER. that single event made way for fucking world war 2. Just because one single guy decided not to kill 1 person we lost millions of lives.
Sorry guys but I am just pissed off because we are repeating the same mistakes as we did in world war 2. So my bad for venting.

  2. Great to see how the strategy has worked for stealth during the initial phases of his campaign.
Cannot wait to see and hear a full broadside from the Otto class!

I mentioned in the last videos, those secondaries have been very punishing to your enemies too.

  3. You could overhaul the single gun BBs into super cruisers drop the guns to 11.9 and just adjust what's there I think I might do that in my Austria campaign with my old pre-dreadnoughts

  4. I like watching the building and the battles but does it get boring to you for a 30 minute battle? I'm sure the attention required takes away from how long it feels but are there times where you go "good god why is it still going". Great content though, I watch this series at work almost every day on lunch.

  5. Anyone have an ideia of how to properly kill 40 kt modern light cruisers at this era? its nearly impossible to hit them with guns due to their "target high speed" acc reducer being a stupid 70% +

  6. Your crew pool is the largest of all the navies. When the Ottos come into service, there will be people lining up to sign up for the German navy, wishing and hoping that they will get to serve on one.

  7. @ 28:55 "They're gonna take me… oof, twenty-nine months! That's two and a half years!"

Which, historically speaking is actually rather low… By comparison, HMS Nelson (a rough equivalent to your Otto class) was laid down at the start of 1922 and wasn't commissioned until mid-1927, a bit over five and a half years; her sister ship HMS Rodney took even longer, just shy of six years. Rough average for battleship construction was around 42 months (3.5 years, longer in peacetime or periods of economic downturn).

  8. New design looks good. You seem to have a very small fleet vs the others. Have you considered doing a regular "annual" build, like they used to do back in the day. Build a certain number of DD's, CL's, CA's and BB's per year? Especially since you have the budget for it. It might be handy to always have fresh ships in the pipeline on a regular basis.

  9. The game doesnt give you the transport kills unless you actually kill them and Id argue, to my own detriment on a few occasions, that this is good and should stay this way.

The reason being that the escorting ships have the option that, even if they are sunk, they can buy enough time for the transports to get far enough away that they may become difficult to track down in time depending on how long the escorts managed to last.

Ive had some battles where I sank the enemy escorts but the situation was such that visibility was limited to somewhat close range so the surprisingly stealthy transports were difficult to find in a timely manner, even though I was a LOT faster than them. They just had enough time to get away because their escorts made me focus on them while the transports opened the distance. And without Radio Direction Finding or RADAR, itd often take more time than I had to catch them since they'd also maneuver to always be sailing away from me which would make finding their vector even harder as it would constantly change.

Of course, with RDF or RADAR this is a moot point since once the escorts are sunk, you'll have a convenient pointer to exactly where they are, but without those, it gives them a fighting chance. Helps to save the nation with the convoy some victory points and makes what couldve been a massive loss for them not as bad as it couldve been.

  10. "Bismarck Lite"

Nah. You built the Super Bismarck. Same # of main guns but 1.9" bigger caliber, 8.9" secondary batteries vs the comparatively puny 6" secondary guns of the Bismarck, and about 15,000 tons heavier.

That thing is closer to some of the H-Class designs. In 1922. And you can actually build them… The French are about to find out what happens when God decides to take a battleship sized shit in their dinner.

  11. On the Pommern class, those towers are really long. You have spots for 2 giant funnels, and only have one. If you could use/unlock a smaller secondary tower, you could shift everything more amidships and shrink the citadel significantly, maybe getting enough tonnage for another couple 8-inch turrets.

  12. In case you havent noticed/figured it out, whenever you go to refit a ship and its overweight or something to that matter, its because of the technology advancements. Things like turret advancements and the such increase the weight by some thus doing the obvious. So now you know if you didnt already.

  13. I noticed that when you went to refit the Thuringia class, you noted that the guns were Mk. 3s. I'm not sure what they were built as, but when you hit refit it automatically upgrades the guns to the newest variant, so there's a chance they were actually older guns that were simply upgraded to Mk. 3s when you looked at them. I'm not sure if this is still how it works, but give it a look!
