Are you using AutoPilot Only and not FSD? Which FSD Version do you have?
How fast are you going between stops? 75?
If you're not spending an hour shopping at Buckees you are not traveling right.
It would seem that the trip planner would see that your taking a different route and automatically reroute your charging stations. Or does it try to send you back the way it wants ? Good job you two 👍
With the charging speed of your model 3, you don't need to worry whether it's a level 2 or level 3. You will never get to 250kw, especially if the level 2 charger isn't busy. Just make sure you are not charging at the same letter the other car(s) are at. Out of spec reviews has the best charging videos, especially when they race. Check those out. That is what I follow on my long trips.
One of the better "real world" EV road trips I've seen, with the dog and everything. The tesla software and network is everything. Last video I saw was a road trip in a Hyundai Ionic EV. EA network was iffy at every every stop. One place was 30 min wait for a charger because there were only two working chargers out of 5 or 6. Also the cost for EV charging was more that what gas would have been. Granted this was in the Northeast part of the country but EA cost were ~50 cents per kw.
