Just a bit over half an hour ago I was searching if you guys did a review of this game, I should've just waited a little bit more. 😆
we just played this last night in coop mode, we got destroyed. Fun game.
Curious if this feels like Shards of Infinity
I was wondering about this game since I am a big Sanderson fan and board gamer. Thank you for the very well done review. Your description reminded me a lot of Dominion with some bits added on.
Starting to read Wind and Truth this weekend!!
Starts with AI 100% human art 🙂
Was waiting for this one! Thanks for the reviews, you’re hitting all the top games lately
I’m a bit bummed that the solo mode wasn’t really covered. I was most interested in this as a solo deck builder, so still remain curious how it plays that way.
Can't wait to get it to the table
the lord ruler did nothing wrong
I feel like I disagree about the theme. I think the game feels like Mistborn and it feels like Mistborn fighting each other. The metals system is fascinating too.
This game was a huge disappointment for me. Good ol Jonny d is my favorite designer and deck builders are my favorite mechanism. So I expected alot but gosh it was so average.
Brandon Sanderson is a bigger author in fantasy than George r r Martin? One of those guys has retirement party lifestyle money.
Love this game! Hopefully we get some characters from the Wax and Wayne era.
As a side note, took a couple of games for this to really click with me. Initially I was a little underwhelmed but a few games in and it really started to shine..for me anyway.
Got this for my teenage daughter for Christmas. Been really busy. Hoping to play it tonight finally.
Brandon Sanderson the biggest fantasy author at this time? I think JK Rowlings bank account will beg to differ.
Small box the size of a large box.
It wasn’t quite as good as I had hoped.
It's like the silly red rising card game. These IPs need giant war/ intrigue type of game
I liked the game well enough, but the player powers that trigger on burning certain types of metals were strong enough cumulative over the game that it felt like a significant disadvantage if you don't build into that strategy, but then you are beholden to the market actually allowing you to pursue that strategy. I played Vin in a game where I was only ever able to buy one pewter card, and most of the cards in the market were brass, zinc, copper, and bronze focused around missions, and I couldn't keep up with the character who got a free mission point every turn while playing these cards that also gave mission points.
I'll play a few more times, but might house-rule an 8 card market instead of 6 if it keeps feeling that way.
One thing I don't like deck building is that your success depends on what cards that you draw in a particular turn (such as Star Realm and Shards of Infinity) and it is very random. The only exception is Aeon's End. Does this game have this problem?
With all due respect, I don’t listen to Tom’s thoughts on any games. He doesn’t seem to understand what theme means; this game is super thematic.
I never thought I’d see the day where a Yi talks about “burning Brass”
5 mins into this, my wife asked what the heck i’m watching. sounds like a crazy homeless man at a recycling center…
i believe it is No-man-clay-chore
I just started the Mistborn series after I was delighted with Stormlight- all because Tom recommended Sanderson. (For which I am forever grateful!)
Played it last night for the first time (2 player). I liked it a lot, I thought the theme came through more than they were saying. We did find in a two-player game that the most balanced option was Vin vs Shan. Maybe it was the cards that came out but when I played Marsh, I was able to easily beat the other player, unless I was Kelsier then I able to quickly kill the other player (he seems more balanced in multiplayer).
