Thanks for watching my animation “Mission to Mars”. The animation shows my idea of what the future of Starship and traveling to Mars will look like. This animation took a long time to make, resulting in some outdated details of the starship program.

Question: if Mars has 1% of Earth atmo pressure wouldn't it be more efficient to use vacuum engines?

Showing just a ship animation can be a bit dehumanizing. I love the way you zoom in and show the hand touching the window. You could almost feel what the space man/woman was feeling. Nice touch.
One thing I could never understand. Why would a space agency send the crewed ship up first and make them wait for the multiple refuelling trips? Why wouldn't they send a tank up first and refuel that first? Then they could take their time refuelling it. When they are finished they send the crewed ship up, quickly refuel it, and leave.

The moment in the video where you have a person putting their hand against the window wonderfully emphasizes the emotion that someone will feel looking upon the planet of human origin very probably for the last time in their lives. That was incredibly powerful. Nice work.

Man this deserves hella views the landing was very unique and kind of reminds me of footage of early starship flights with the three raptors lit pretty dang cool
The tankers will not be end to end. Elon abandoned that. He has also stated that they would need centrifugal spin to produce something close to gravity to reduce health issues. He showed splitting it down the middle, but I think the first trip might be 2 Starships running cables anchoring the ships about 50-100 feet apart facing nose to nose. The atmosphere on Mars is MUCH thinner and would require a much longer re-entry burn. The belly-flop would likely not be done as the gravity is 39% that of Earths and the atmosphere is only about 1%, so the benefits would be lost. Likely several unmanned missions would be sent to set up power, drill for water, processing facility to make methane and oxygen for return launches, housing and labs underground, life support systems first. They likely would have a launch/landing pad ready too. There would likely be vehicles there too already as bulldozers and such would likely be used during the construction. Anything less would be a suicide mission. Everything would have to be underground do to radiation because of Mar's lack of a magnetosphere and its thin atmosphere and extreme cold. I personally think solar is not an option and that they need to have a nuclear power plant instead (molten salt likely).
Do to the lower gravity and atmospheric pressure I do thing a Starship can launch without the need for a booster, but I wonder if it needs refueling in orbit. I figure the first few Starships bringing the construction gear would be one way missions and the tanks from the ships themselves would be used storage tanks. I really can not see less than 10 missions just to send what would be needed to set up an outpost and while the Starship might be able to carry 100 people, I picture the first missions having FAR less people… possibly only 20 or less. And until we know what the long term effects of reduced gravity has on the human body there is no point on ever planning to build more. It might be a station that rotates a crew of 10-20 people out every 18 months.
This will never happen if the Biden administration has any say in it. They're putting every roadblock in front of Musk they can find.

One critique I would give is you need to have the launch be faster. Watch an Arian 5 launch and match the speed. Elon has recently stated that the Starship/Superheavy launch will be quite fast.

Many people don't realize that, even with the Mars atmosphere, the vehicle can still be traveling several Km/s after re-entry and will need to start it's landing burn much higher up in the atmosphere, especially with any useful payload. This is a beautiful animation, honestly.
