Missing Sub: 'Search and rescue operation continues' – Rear Admiral leading the search

The US Coast Guard says it is still carrying out an “active search and rescue operation”, adding that it “remains hopeful at this point”.

Rear Admiral John Mauger of the US Coast Guard, who is leading the search for Titan, told Sky News
that the focus of the unified command is on “maximising the use” of assets on scene and a discussion about when the search effort would potentially end hasn’t yet taken place.

He added that sounds detected by a Canadian aircraft earlier this week were generated by “background ocean noise” according to initial analysis by the US Navy.

  1. They can't stop the rescue operation at 96 hours! The submersible had 96 hours of oxygen assuming all are breathing. If just 1 person stops breathing, either voluntarily or by force, the oxygen availability could be extended to 115 hours. But then, they will have to worry about the air quality…

  2. They went down Sunday morning
    4days oxygen
Unless they've been holding breath all day this is a recovery mission
Media can't speak not one word of truth these days it's sad

  3. I can see why they put this guy in front of a camera. He’s well spoken, kind tone, and able to keep the interview in the direction he needs it it to go. I applaud him.
Very noble and honorable answers to some of those tough questions

  4. Why are they still bothering to find the sub? It’s past 12:30 uk time they are already dead. It’s sad bc the son looks young and no one deserves to die like that, but still looking them is absolutely worthless. Also the amount of pressure of the water if someone goes down there they won’t come up due to the amount of water on top of them so its a waste. Rest in peace 💔

  5. I'm an advocate of disclosure of the facts and truth… which they've been skirting since the beginning of this: 1) a rescue of the occupants would have only been possible had the submersible been a) found on the surface, or b) located on the sea floor and a remote sub on scene with the capability to attach a lifting cable with a surface vessel capable of lifting the weight. 2) there are no manned submersible's able to descend to the depth of the sea floor with the ability to effect a rescue. No Navy of any country has any admitted rescue submersible's able to descend to that depth. The US Navy DSRV at most can descend to half the depth at which the Titanic is resting. And then it is designed for rescue of US and NATO subs… not "private" ones. This was a tragedy as there was no regulation and/or certification of the submersible and it's already evident that Oceangate played footloose with a variety of safety and operational issues. This is the ultimate irony in that the loss of the Titanic was the precursor for the implementation of what is now known as SOLAS – Safety Of Life At Sea… and the mini "tourist" submersible totally threw ALL SOLAS provisions to the wind to visit the reason for SOLAS… Now, as others have stated, there will eventually be new standards and regulations.

  6. Forget the noises, as they might likely be regular background ocean noises, does anyone know they if are searching in the actual Titanic wreck area itself with these ROVs? I have not heard this being asked or even mentioned? I know it might go without saying, but why hasn't anyone asked that directly to be 100% sure they are not simply searching some wild goose chases just because of some sounds.

  7. This guy could have ended the search had he left the ROV where it should have been ….the last know spot where the submersible was known to be. This guy is reckless
