Wow, I just noticed at 24:11 when you shot that first drone your status with the Zirax changed to Unfriendly. So it seems we start Neutral with Zirax now. That's nice. You coulda just mined it without killing anything or being put at risk of being shot. Alternatively, you could have visited zirax traders and possibly found one selling Sathium.
Is it random on every playthrough? since in my game I started last week I have sathium asteroid in Obipl Rho. I mean it seems that they have every material available in the starter system. It is odd that Spanj game does not.
The reason there are no sathium deposits available in the starting area is because most people only need like 50 sathium in their starter CV for a warp drive, and that is easily obtainable from looting sathium plates.

"I have no idea why steel grow plots are in the Advanced Constructor. Seems like an unnecessary hurdle to jump through." To that I reply I have no idea why you didnt do the same thing to Wooden/Concrete Grow Plots that you did to the Large Constructor in upgrading it to an Advanced Constructor. Just make the Steel plates and Cobalt Alloy and upgrade 9 concrete grow plots. 😉
Actually, basic ores are 1 ore to 2 ingots for clarity.
Look for a Polaris Alloy Synthesis Factory to buy some Sathium.
I believe you said "Silicon is a 1 to 1 ratio" for ores to ingots. Just for new players out there, every resource you mine will be a 1:2 ore to ingot ratio EXCEPT for gold, which is a 5:1 ore to ingot ratio. The low ratio there is to make it tougher to build more advanced CPU extenders that allow you to build stronger ships and bases.
Also if my memory serves correctly, there is an abandoned drone base on masperon that is made entirely of combat steel. Not sure if they removed it in 1.10 as i havent started a new game yet

@ 34:58 I was wondering if that was the cost to repair back to before you upgraded the CPU and shield. Did you save to template after upgrading Spanj? Glad you didn't push it to fix whatever it thought needed fixing.
For Sathium I have always just collapsed a POI or two. Any structure made of combat steel is chock full of sathium plates. (Now that I watched all the way through, you are already looking for that)
You could have mined all the Sathium you wanted plus from under the Distillery, unless they changed it. though haven't played Vanilla in quite a while guess I will have to give it a shot lol.
Spanj, you should really go back to Obipl Rho. There's a POI that you might enjoy. And don't plan on going to another system to soon. I've been following the story, and gone from Omicron, to Sienna, and next to Symos. I expect Uabion will be the final stop. And just in warning, Sienna is … interesting, in a 'many times dead' kinda way. A certain POI has either been redrawn, or I completely forgot what it was like.
Visit Masperon too. I'd like to see how you navigate certain terrian. Am I asking to much?

Psst, a crashed CV can spawn on Masperon. There's also some sketchy stuff going on there involving the Brotherhood of Farr…
In the older versions i could always count on the drone base for enough sathium for a mid level battleship, but this new version (they removed the ore traders in obi rho asteroid field too) guess I'll have to warp out and find the asteroids since the drone base no longer on the temperate planet.
Spanj did you get the crash capital vessels on Skilon? And not sure if I'm remembering right or not but Masperion might have a abandon drone base. Seems you got to do the four moons to get anything.
don't forget you can get Sathium from salvaging a lot of abandoned poi's it comes from i think the reinforced steel blocks its all over on the starter planet should find it well tarting a part the engine module
I'm playing vanilla and using your nightshade mkv, but for me a shield is 3x3x1 and does not fit in the nightshade without modifications. How did you get the shield to fit in there are you using mods?
You can always go to the barren desert like moon (Skillion) and hunt "crashed" capital vessels, that spawn as POIs. They always have many, still working, small and some times medium thrusters. Or just Salvage them for a bit of sathium.
Everyone's talking sathium in the comments. You can get enough Sathium from Skillon in the POI's there to build the MCRN megacarrier if you wanted. The one that can carry several Asteria destroyers on its deck and takes ~20 hours to build. The T2 CV I made can be built entirely from a Skillon salvage.
Aren’t the engine compartments made of combat steel? If so, salvage the combat steel down to sathium plates and chuck them in the factory.
Spawns may be different, but in my game there is a colonial trader on Symos, I think at the Waypoint Station that sells ALL the ores. There still aren't many opportunities to sell to traders though. The best change for money seems to be to set up some massive ration farms and sell those. I did find a trader at the ice planet where the Titan crashed that still buys sniper rifles, that could be an option, but traders who buy rations are more common.
You already probably know this but There is plenty of Sathium from xenosteel blocks that can easily go at abandoned basis

@Spanj! You can get hundreds of ingots worth of Sathium from the alien blocks in the Abandoned Base POI on Akua (the easy start moon)! It is the culimating POI in that moon's quest starter chain, but since you aren't doing that you can skip striaght to it.
You should be able to handle it well with your equipment, but there are a fair amount of spiders, scorpions, and legacy abominations… So stock up on ammo and meds!😉
If it's not too late, try Masperon for a wrecked CV that's not part of a story. You'd be needing to go over anyways for Pentax.
around the poles of masperon is much single ore sathium and cobolt in the forest is neo, gold single ores and in mountains i found plenty of single ore pentaxid. in water around poles i found single ore fuel, you know the blue stuff, brain failing..
So can't you put ammo in the blueprint?
In vanilla decontamination kit will low down your radiation. Also shower seems heal your radiation poisoning.
For the steel grow plots, many POI has 2 of them, so you can build 5-6 cores and go to those POI and retrieve the whole blocks.
another advantage of salvaging stuff is that it reduces the time it takes for the factory to build things when you don't put it on the instant spawn setting.
Make concrete growplots, place down, upgrade with multitool, pickup steel growplots. Profit.
Don't rail guns count as sathium? What about equip rail gun by its rounds and chuck that into the factory since you need so little.

the Matrix-thingie from the first Episode is for the Alien Obelisk from the Beginning where you couldn't get into it.
I am definitely one of those folk who prefer the early game struggle over the later CV exploration. I would love it if Empyrion would eventually feature the same kind of quasi empire building that something like Avorion does. That would make the later game more interesting imho.
Or I guess I could play online with friends, but that might require too much human interaction for me.
