  1. You can build the dried kelp you smelted into kelp blocks and use that as a more viable fuel source if you so desire. I occasionally build a kelp farm for that purpose so that I don't have to spend as much time mining trees for charcoal.

EDIT: I think you can just right-click your wheat crops to leave the plant and not have to re-plant everytime you harvest, but that one depends on the mod because some disable that function for some reason.

EDIT2: You should be able to put a lever on the face of the melter and then hit it, and the faucet should start automatically deploying whenever the ingot cast is empty. No redstone needed. I do this for normal tinkers smelteries to quickly empty blocks of a resource out of my smelter or foundry (complete with hopper and chest under the casting basin.)

  2. You could use pistons that push the blocks to the surface by having staggered pistons. It pushes up 12 blocks, then a piston pushes it one to the side, then push up 12 again. Repeat till you get to the surface. Idk if there is a more create-way of doing this.

  3. you don't need quarts for repeaters(atleast in vanella, mod pack may have changed it) and them and redstone is really all you need for real basic clock

  4. Rather strong start, there, Captain! I just have a couple of tips and advice since you have now started the path of Tinker's Construct:
    1. Craft the couple of "Materials and you" books that you have access to, as soon as possible, since they will give you an idea of what kind of tools Tinker's let you create. Said tools cannot break and can always be repaired, which will save you a lot of resources.
    2. Since the small size smelter can alloy ingots, it could be a good idea to start looking into Tinker's added alloys! For even lower maintenance, how about having tools which can repair themselves? Slimy metals rule early game.
    3. It's a bit of work but Tinker's tools can also be improved dramatically, giving you access to essentially Fortune III or Unbreaking III without needing bookcases nor an enchantment setup. But things like a single diamond also go a long way: a pickaxe with a stone head improved by a single diamond give you access to whatever you'd need a diamond pickaxe to break, while only needing stone to repair it.
    4. Something to keep in mind if you want to keep using Tinker's to process your ores once you've reached the Nether: the Foundry multiblock cannot create alloys, while offering the same range of processing as a same-scale Smeltery. It can however give you a little something extra for every dust you throw in!

Also, if in the future you need additional ingot casts, you can use any ingot-shaped item, including bricks. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
