I just want gunpowder and strings, so adding trapdoor on above blocks will help or not?

I afk’d on the platform over night and put block around me to prevent phantoms from knocking me off, this morning and there were no drops. What did I do wrong?
This can also easily be converted into a xp grinder as well by using the mechanics of a mob spawner.
For this though, I suggest to go up and build it at the afk platform
This build also works really well when it's put in the air.
Not getting anywhere close to 3.5k items per hour. It's more like 500 items per hour. Could be that I'm on bedrock and had to slightly modify a few components. Still gets the job done

Ty for the tutorial, it really helps a lot! I have one problem. I have this window with tinted glass to see inside the farm, and I see that some of the mobs are walking out of the fire pit somehow. Anyone else having the same problem?
i did the other one and collected 21 stacks of slabs and then i found out it was for 1.16 so then i click on the video and now i need one slab
Important for efficiency: Use soul camp fire since it's light emission level is just 10. regular camp fire has a light level of 14. the first floor will have a light level of 2 or 3, and therefore no mobs will spawn

As of Minecraft: Java Edition 1.19.2 version, this mob farm does work AND to the claimed quantity of items. One thing to note is you cannot sit in (camp) inside the mob farm structure, because your presence within seems to stop auto-spawning the mobs. Why? I don't know. IF you want to see inside the structure to see mobs, I recommend downloading the meteor client and enabling xray. IF your mobs are not spawning, and you can see within the structure as evidence, greatly extend your illuminated field of torches or glowstones beyond 35 blocks, and check underground for caves within the mob structure's chunk. Illuminate those caves! Xray can help you find those cavesvia the exposed option.

Hi, could I change the scaffolding into just blocks with ladders for the afk platform? In my world I can't seem to find a jungle biome so getting scaffolding would be hard.

you need to place a solid block on top of the highest dispenser, so the redstone signals can be handled
