Van 4 tot en met 15 september vindt de internationale luchtlandingsoefening Falcon Leap plaats. Vanaf Vliegbasis Eindhoven oefenen militairen van de landmacht en luchtmacht boven Nederland en België het droppen van ladingen en parachutisten.

De training is nodig zodat de landen niet alleen vandaag, maar ook morgen samen gereed zijn voor inzet.

Droppen van ladingen
Tijdens de eerste week oefenen militairen het droppen van vracht (container delivery system) boven de Marnewaard, Ginkelse Heide en locaties in België.

Droppen van parachutisten
De tweede week staat in het teken van het droppen van parachutisten. De parachutisten landen op diverse locaties in Gelderland, Noord-Brabant, Groningen en België.

Op zaterdag 16 september neemt een aantal vliegtuigen deel aan de herdenking van Operatie Market Garden op de Ginkelse Heide bij Ede.

13 deelnemende landen
Aan Falcon Leap doen 13 landen mee. Naast Nederland zijn dat Denemarken, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Griekenland, Italië, Polen, Portugal, Roemenië, Spanje, Tsjechië, Verenigd Koninkrijk en de Verenigde Staten.

De oefening richt zich op internationale samenwerking bij luchtlandingsoperaties. Door te oefenen met personeel, uitrusting en vliegtuigen van andere landen verbeteren de deelnemers hun procedures en samenwerking (de interoperabiliteit).

Nederland organiseert
Falcon Leap wordt georganiseerd door 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade van de Koninklijke Landmacht. De transportvliegtuigen van 336 Squadron van het Air Mobility Command van de Koninklijke Luchtmacht zorgen samen met internationale partners voor het luchttransport.

Wanneer wordt er gevlogen?
Tijdens de vluchten vliegen de toestellen op lage hoogte en zijn daarom zichtbaar en hoorbaar. Na 23.00 uur wordt er niet gevlogen.

Lees per gebied wanneer de vliegtuigen vliegen:

Groot deel Nederland (4-16 september);
Marnewaard en Deelen (4-15 september);
Heteren en Ginkelse Heide (11-15 september).

The international airborne exercise Falcon Leap will take place from September 4 to 15. From Eindhoven Air Base, army and air force soldiers practice dropping loads and paratroopers above the Netherlands and Belgium.

The training is necessary so that the countries are ready for deployment together not only today, but also tomorrow.

Dropping loads

During the first week, soldiers practice dropping cargo (container delivery system) above the Marnewaard, Ginkelse Heide and locations in Belgium.

Dropping paratroopers

The second week is all about dropping paratroopers. The paratroopers land at various locations in Gelderland, North Brabant, Groningen and Belgium.

On Saturday, September 16, a number of aircraft will participate in the commemoration of Operation Market Garden on the Ginkelse Heide near Ede.

13 participating countries

13 countries are participating in Falcon Leap. In addition to the Netherlands, these are Denmark, Germany, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The exercise focuses on international cooperation in airborne operations. By practicing with personnel, equipment and aircraft from other countries, participants improve their procedures and cooperation (interoperability).

When will there be flying?

During the flights, the aircraft fly at low altitude and are therefore visible and audible. There are no flights after 11 p.m.
