  1. you’re losing me was written at the end of 2021 (she was still with joe at the time) so likely she released it on the till dawn edition bc there’s no way in hell she could release that while still with joe 💀

  2. when it comes to comparing ‘karma’ with songs from an album like folklore, a good reference is her acceptance speech at the nashville songwriter awards.

where she talks about how she writes in 3 categories of pens, the quill (ex: the lakes), the fountain pen (ex: all too well), and the glitter pen (ex: shake it off). karma def belongs to glitter pen and even if they don’t have super deep meanings, she’s also said in an interview that she has fun writing songs like those esp when they’re a play on pop culture references or phrases. i just love that she enjoys writing no matter how serious or unserious 🥺

p.s. been loving all your reactions so far and im subbed! looking forward to watching you react to the rest of the albums, its gonna be a long journey 😂❤️

  3. This has probably been said but I saw your confusion on Anti-Hero for all the people she’s ghosted standing there in the room. Probably those ghosts from Hits Different. And to tie High Infidelity to You’re Losing Me, “You know there's many different ways that you can kill the one you love
The slowest way is never loving them enough” 💔

  4. Taylor is a great lyricist but she also comes up with really catchy earworms/hooks! And sometimes she throws in fun, not to be taken too seriously lyrics with a catchy melody like in "karma" or "shake it off", which she refers to as "glitter gel pen lyrics".
She's mentioned in a speech before that she categorizes her lyrics into 3 categories: quill lyrics, fountain pen lyrics and glitter gel pen lyrics.
She referred to glitter gel pen lyrics as “Frivolous, carefree, bouncy, syncopated perfectly to the beat. Glitter Gel Pen lyrics don’t care if you don’t take them seriously because they don’t take themselves seriously. Glitter Gel Pen lyrics are the drunk girl at the party who tells you that you look like an angel in the bathroom. It’s what we need once in a while in these fraught times"

  5. around the 8 min mark: "breaking the fourth wall" is when a character speaks directly to the viewer through the camera. "hypermediation" is what you're describing about the shots or camerawork drawing the viewers' attention to the existence/use of cameras. (source: Media Studies grad). I love your Taylor reviews! They're so thorough, thoughtful, and mostly about the music rather than the lore—which can be fun to talk about, but there are a lot existing channels that focus more on that whole narrative than on how the tracks actually sound. 🥲
