Michael Penix Jr. Is Rising Up NFL Draft Boards. Why?

Michael Penix Jr. is rising up NFL draft boards. Is it smoke? Perhaps, but here’s what teams may be seeing in him, and why I wouldn’t necessarily follow them into the void.

  1. The majority of UW passing game, most routes are option routes. Reading defenses and anticipating receiver option decision is very sophisticated approach. On every pass play Penix needs to execute based on all these variables. This means UW passing was not based on defined plays and routes.

  2. He completely discounts the number of times he threw with Anticipation. He also misinterprets the film. Penix led his receivers into open space to develop YAC quite often on all of his film. None of his receivers ever got blown up either. He looks off safeties and linebackers in every game.

  3. Four Team Trade

    Goal when the dust settles
    NE has Herbert
    MN has Maye
    LAC has McCarthy
    Ariz has pick 5

    In order
MN trades 11 and 23 to LAC for 5
LAC trades w NE for 3 dealing Herbert
Now MN has 5 and LAC has 3 (and 11, 23)
We switch places by adding 2025 first rounder
    Now LAC has 5
LAC switches places with Ariz adding 23 or even a second rounder

    Chi Williams
    Wash Daniels
    Minn Maye
    Chargers McCarthy
    Cardinals Harrison or Nabers

**the reason to incl Ariz is to prevent NYG or Denv from moving there to take McCarthy

  4. DRAKE MAYE… is a bust.
He is the next kenny pickett …meaning he wont be a starter in four years . He is big and thats why teams like him but he isnt an accurate passer and has bad footwork and is skittish in the pocket. He can throw bomb passes otherwise he is nothing special.

  5. Aye mane you don’t know what the fuck you talking about, anyone that has watch penix clips, especially the one to odunze are spot on. I don’t know why you’re hating but the throws where pint point accurate. Please shut up cuz you pissing Penix fans Right now. Especially me. Go learn ball

  6. Respect for having a podcast. McMillan had 1000+ yards in 2022 and Polk 1100+ this year. McMillan would have this year too if he didn’t get hurt. This kills the argument where odunze made him respectfully.

  7. Keep being you! I do love these shows. I just don't like the ones about penix. It seems that you really want to prove that he's not a good quarterback.

You just admitted that he's a smart quarterback that trusts his wide receivers. We have some good wide receivers. Feels like all we need

  8. Penix played for two teams and was very good on both— it wasn’t just the receivers playing for Washington. Your analysis is amateur. Penix had 65 % completion rate— that’s not inaccurate my friend. His comp is a more athletic, more gun slinger and a bigger arm version of Kirk Cousin. Think before you express your bias.

  9. I doubt that we are able to trade up so we could end up with Penix. It might not make any difference who we like better but we have to be prepared for possibility that we can't trade up within the top 10.

Can you see a deal with the Chargers if they were select McCarthy then trade Justin Herbert to the Vikings? I know it doesn't make a lot of sense but we they would benefit from extra picks and we know what we would get with Justin Herbert because we saw what he did when the Chargers played us at home last season.

  10. Luke, with all do respect….. you have no business analyzing football. Why? Because you have no idea what you are talking about. I could go into greater detail but won’t. Why? Because you couldn’t understand.

  11. Luke has no problem wondering “who” drove the winning at Washington and then questioning Penix’s performance. Yet, when it comes to JJ McCarthy who mostly took the snap, handed it off and went alone for the ride.😂😂

Luke, why don’t you have to see that with JJ?

  12. Michael Penix may have had the most impressive pro day of any of the top QBs. He changed his throwing motion to a 3/4 delivery and he was hitting his receivers in stride including on shorter routes that he had some trouble with at Washington. Penix is elite at reading defenses and is more athletic than most of the QBs in the draft though it doesn't show up on game tape.
