Mercedes W205 dash out, dash cam hardwire and back seat USB in

Keith the Mercedes C250 S205 doesnt get much attention on the channel as the car is always just being used for busy things, but I needed the add some rear seat USBs, hardwire and dash cam power supply and replace a tatty trim panel. Its had new tyres and a service too…

  1. Good work, Matt,
Similar with the silver bezel on her mini – marked/scratched – for temperature and control indication, which annoyed her hugely.
This one just removed, resprayed and replaced it for her.
Better finish than the car come out of the factory, me thinks.

  2. In the Netherlands, you can legally have a mix of all season / winter / summer tires. as long as they are the same per axle. Would I recommend it? Nah not really 😛
Using all seasons for the daily driver is a good choice, especially when combined with common sense.
The rears being more expensive, I know. Just look at my 355/30 19's 😛

Could it be that the added USB power supply to the rea is interfering with the dashcam?

  3. One thing about those suction cup dashcams is, that if they fall off when the car is unattended, they can set off your alarm. It's only happened a couple of times with me. You can turn off the internal movement sensor in the Merc but it resets every time you drive the car again. It's not something you want to keep doing either.

  4. well this is really good timing as i pick up my (new to me) C205 on Saturday and will be looking to install dash cam. I also agree smoking is cars is disgusting, and I smoke on/off

  5. Matt been watching you some years now and is first time I’ve doubted a video of yours ? Be honest ? Was this filmed in South of France 🇫🇷🤔 ? Sunshine ☀️, No rain 🌧, No wind 💨 and 90% positive outcome on work 😁, has to be PHOTOGRAPHIC TRICKERY of some kind 😂😂👌🏻.

  6. Dashcams should be banned most of the people who use them are actually the problem on the road themselves and think just by recording others they are in the right. Cant stand them just as bad the idiot cyclists with cameras on their head who still ride through red lights or cut onto the pavement to skip lights

  7. It was nice to meet Keith, he looks great.
I was surprised at how straightforward that appeared to be, given that Keith is a modern, highly sophisticated design.
Well done Matt, I would have been scared of either breaking something, or rendering the car inoperable❤.

  8. Low profile tyres and potholes are not happy bedfellows, time that manufacturers that sell in UK realised this. We have never had billiard table smooth roads apart from the post war concrete very noisy ones, at least they got fewer holes unless they had been dug up and badly filled. Potholes were common in the 60's but councils filled them properly in a week or less. 5 or 6 Council workers only 2 actually doing anything, one making tea.

  9. My 2020 W205 has USBs in that location in the rear from factory in a little fold down compartment. My mate’s 2018 car doesnt. It’s almost as if Mercedes realised they’d overlooked them!

  10. Is the permanent live supposed to be a low power line for the leds in the power socket? If that's the case, the camera might be pulling too much from this line and the supply could be turning on and off as a current limiting mode.

I could be talking b-s*it though.

  11. Wow mat. A car that just does everything you want it to. This is a new concept to me what no laying down on wet ground tinkering 🤔 I need to have a sit down and contemplate this new ideology.🤣🤣🤣🚙🚐🛻🚗👍

  12. Got to love the alphabet soup that you get with modern model names! Also feeling the pain with front tyres; just had mine replaced (had a bulge in one and a tear in the other) after only six months of use!

  13. Matt, I had the same on/off issue with the Nextbase cam in my e class. I was running from the boot auxiliary socket with a wire through the car. The USB cigar adapter wasn't providing enough power – swapped for a 24w 12v adapter and all good.
