I cut back on laborers in the pastures, we actually got a pretty good count, then it dropped. I unlocked some more policies and we send out about 30 caravans. It is getting fun. Enjoy this episode of Settlement Survival.

Almost an hour 🙂 I think you should build a couple mines and a quarry on one of those other landmasses. Put the storage yard and warehouses close to the bridge so your people don't have to walk too far to get the stuff. I place remote work areas all over my maps.
There's an administrator named Tyler you can appoint who makes it so the mega ship always comes. It's too bad the game gives you only two random options when hiring someone new.
As far as I know, more workers in a pasture just increases the amount of product you get from the animals each day. They also make it so the animals breed more. You can put more people on cattle until it's full then take them off again. Duck are pretty useless, they just give meat and feathers which you can get from goose. Pigs are also useless unless you want your BBQ house to make bacon. Idle chickens give tears, which are a trade item you can sell, they used to sell for a lot more earlier in the games development, but they are still useful.
Two things I always end up buying when my pop gets high is domestic fuel and glass bottles too.
