This exploration really brought me back to my youth, where I used to collect all sorts of manga. At one point I had like 100+ volumes lololol (I donated them a long time ago). RIP Chuang Yi, you were the publisher of my youth.
To some extent, I do feel like I’ve outgrown manga, it’s not a main part of my life like it was in the past. But it was such fun going back to my roots and revisiting this part of my life. I’ve been wanting to read Haikyuu for a while now, so I’m glad I finally did! (I’ve also been wanting to reread or catch up with One Piece but wah, that one… HAHAHA. I’ve been waiting for Oda-sensei to complete it but maybe still much longer…)
I’m gonna film a follow-up video! It’ll be focused on Haikyuu and the experience of reading it but I also want to share my thoughts about manga, physical volumes and more. (Like why I prefer manga over anime, why I still like physical volumes even though digital is more convenient and easily available.) Haikyuu…. Get you a series that can make you laugh and cry like that….
You know? I think my young self found solace in fictional series because I found Singapore boring and my student life was uninspiring. But now that I’m an adult, there is so much to do and so much else to read (non-fiction psychology, self help and improvement books lol). It’s nice to escape into fiction still but I find that I’ve come to enjoy real life and I’ve fallen in love with Singapore. And that may be one of the key love stories in my life haha.
I never thought I’ll be here but I’m glad I am. (: Here’s to finding love in the things you used to do, the things you do now and the things that are yet to come in the future. (Especially if all three are the same thing(s)!) Cheers.
