  1. Reminds me of Parelli 😬 Which I used to do with my horse when I was a teen, until I took a step back to look at the way the methods are taught and saw it in a different light. Totally understand if it works for some people and their equines though! There's a lot of ways to go about training these days. I'm 100% all about R+&consent-based training for all my animals now, which I also love seeing being used at Alveus!

  2. Expanding on the bit about dog training, as an assistance dog handler, I want to use as minimal equipment as possible with my pup and use our relationship and commands to communicate. Right now, she works with either a flat collar or a martingale, which is a collar that slightly tightens under pressure to help with boundaries and refocusing when distracted. It rarely gets to the point where it tightenes anyway because the second she leaves my side, I do basic position commands to refocus her. I'm also headcollar training her for more difficult enviroments but she's quite body shy, so I'm not entirely sure she'll ever fully be comfortable wearing it and thats fine, I just won't use it.

However, I've seen some service dog handlers who have a prong collar, an e-collar, and a head collar on, all at the same time, and I just feel like they're overusing equipment a bit. It's not my place to tell them they're doing something wrong, but I feel like there's just a bit of an over reliance and not enough use of clear communication and relationship building 😬.

  3. i've heard that you have to train a horse on each side of their body for both eyes to be able to see and understand.. is it the same with donkeys?? ..horses scare me with their size and power, so this is so interesting to watch! thank you!

  4. Seeing Serrano doing so well, this is the highlight of my weekend 😊 he went so far that new people might not understand why chatters are spamming "brave" whenever the donks are being touched. Thanks to the whole staff for sharing your work, I know that chat doesn't make the work easier❤
