This is my entire storm chase from May 22nd, 2008 in western Kansas archived from MiniDV videotape. I chased with Mark Sefried and saw three tornadoes near Grainfield, Collyer, and WaKeeney on numerous supercells during a very long day of chasing this classic tornado outbreak.
I’m in the process of archiving all of my storm chasing tapes from pre-2010, be sure to subscribe and follow along.

  1. Been appreciating your "backyard" videos and now this piece from Kansas. Backyard- Andrew our backyard was 15 miles SSE of Barneveld, WI in 1984. We lived in a Norwegian farm house with 2 babies. I worked at the Medical Center in Madison. There was nothing to go through . It was like a focus asteroid. with this F5 except the inexplicable things that storm did to scouring the land to shredding some of their citizens into shreds and shooting bits and pieces out into the fields. Our ED s were filled with shell shocked survivors .UW Science and that great research department and the Feds came in and wrote some new Science and some intellectual might was applied in this situation that affected everything about predictions to safety. I am just now writing some of the stuff coming up from 40 years ago. I've been thru a few including St. Louis 1959 , .took the top of the arena. Channel 2 tv tower pieces around Hampton and Oakland. some stuff in AL and GA in 2011. Mayfield was the closest I can remember- that felt like Barneveld- not on the scale of the damage- but the nature of the beast. I was doing real time chasing with some of the chasers that night. I am indebted to you for watching over your backyard where some of my people still live and are buried. Along the way, I can benefit from your acute artistic sense. So I enjoy and appreciate you. Thanks.
