One-half of Trivium’s twin-guitar attack Matt Heafy goes over his signature 6- and 7-string Epiphone Les Paul Customs and describes how he landed on the Dunlop Jazz III guitar pick.

The afternoon ahead of Trivium’s headlining performance at Nashville’s Marathon Music Works on October 14, guitarists Beaulieu and Heafy joined PG’s Chris Kies to cover the pair’s smorgasbord of signature gear—they know what they like, and brands are eager to hit their high standards—and why they transitioned back to traditional tube-drenched tone.

  1. Matt might slap his name on a lot of things but I respect the fact he's hands-on with the design and is confident enough with the products to use them live, which is more than I can say about some other artists and their signature stuff.

  2. If Gibson were smart the'd make their players play epiphones on stage instead of gibsons. Make people see that they aren't low brand imitations. Regular gibsons are very expensive right now and regular players can't afford them. Also epiphones I'm some instances play just as well and if not better than some Gibsons.

  3. Thank you Matt for considering your fans bank accounts. It’s always frustrating when a signature guitar comes with a 5k price tag. Bjorn had the same mentality when designing his with Epiphone and I have both of his signature models and loved the accessibility of the price.
