It is very weird and strange to the world. We are the only country who treat our flag as if it is a Holy Relic sewn by Jesus and red stripes died in his blood. It is a symbol. Not a power among itself. Veteran to Veteran I agree with you with my whole heart.

i think gaytz thinks the clown show is good for America. and i agree , if anyone has made statements and voiced support for and defends the criminals who attacked the capitol on jan6 , should not only not lead the pledge , but should not now nor ever serve in our government. so put than in as an amendment too.
When you pledge alligence to the Flag, you are pledging alligence to what the flag stans for.
Ironically it was a Christian Socialist Francis Bellamy, a Baptist minister, who started it as to unify the many kinds immigrants coming into the country 130 years ago in order they could better work and fight together for their rights. The flag is one of the few symbolic commonalities we have as Americans.
Yes, the point is very good from the Democrat. Yet, Gaetz wants to deflect, as usual, from the Jan 6 insurrection. Wow!
Not just the flag but also "to the Republic for which it stands". Republicans need to be required to pledge their allegiance to the REPUBLIC and everyone who tried to overthrow it, or aided and abetted those who did, should NOT be allowed in Congress at all.
You'd think a true patriot would consider that masturbating on the flag would be disrespectful. Almost like it's a prop and they know it'll fool the idiots. Flag pins, gaudy crucifix necklaces, and bold proclamations don't make one more patriotic, they make one more of a fake patriot to rile up other fake patriots.
Also you can't lead the pledge if you don't believe that Biden is the president.
We always had to say the Pledge of Allegiance at school in the 70's. I never really thought about it being anything but something a classroom of kids that just woke up mumbled out. By the time I was in high school I was too high to care. Standing up was my biggest peeve.🤪
You MUST recite this pledge because of freedom!
