Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid vs Mild Hybrid | Drive To Death Part Deux

The last test proved the viability of a Hybrid drivetrain versus a petrol and conventional diesel tech. This time around we’ve changed a few things around, pitching the Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid vs the Grand Vitara Mild Hybrid. Maruti and Toyota’s Hybrid tech going up the already efficient Dual Jet technology.

Again we have a long drive, 900 kilometres from Udaipur to our office in Pune. Could we make it all the way back to Pune with both cars on a single tank of gas? Ahead of us lay many miles of highway that we needed to cover over two days. The conditions of these roads and the traffic volume once we reach Gujarat could be an issue.

  1. Tata Nexon EV Max or MG ZS EV Vs Tata Nexon Diesel Vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza Vs Toyota Hyrider or Grand Vitara strong hybrid. Here you have all combinations and I have mentioned latest Brezza because its a 1.5lit 4 cylinder instead of a 1.0lit engines because anyway they're focused towards efficiency more. So, why pick the same again

  4. Folks, i heard about an interesting car in the making.
Innova hybrid petrol, what's so tempting is that it :
    # Might come with 2 L hybrid petrol engine.
    # Might start at 15 lakhs ex.showroom.
    # Might come with FWD and monocoque chassis.
    # Might come as a C segment car.
    # Might be built in the platform in which csuv and sedan are built.
    # Might be fuel efficient up to 20 km pl….

  5. Kudos to Team Zigwheels drivers for great testing of 900 KM drive challenge. Next part 3 – Strong Hybrids Vs Electric Vehicle. I wondering about mild Hybrid system that how it fails in traffic jams when rains pouring heavy. What happen to hybrid assist SHVS system.

  9. Great Video! However, the way, the fuel while filling up the tank was overspilling above the brim neither look professionally good nor is a recommended practice. OEM (Car makers) keep some reserve / spare capacity in the tank so as to compensate vapor / gas pressure which gets built up due to external humidity and temperature! And that's why one has to STOP filling after AUTOSHUT OFF of Fuel Nozzle. Its not at all a good practice to recommend 100% tank full up to the brim especially in harsh Summers! Sorry to say, but such practices are not expected from Zig Wheels being a professional automotive channel. I being an Auto Professional wanted to highlight this point. Hope you would take it in right spirit! Keep up the good work!

  10. Can you do a living with type of series? Packing the boot to the full, climbing Ghats of Matheran with these two cars? Also would be interesting to see how load affects the performance and fuel efficiency of the two Mild Hybrid and Strong Hybrid.
